Complete Nove Here

Hello everyone - well i have the software, WS and sensors set up as well as I can for now - all i want to do now is get this lot on the internet under my site - www.chaseruk.co.uk. I am with Lycos and am told that ftp host server is ftp.chaseruk.co.uk and remote directory is /www/ and the unsername is [email protected]. I have entered this information into the FTP setup page but I am not getting anything and I fear I have this all wrong. I don’t have any knowledge of website building so i am probably trying to do to much at the same time. What am I doing wrong? The lycos package came with its own ftp programme but I am not seeing how I use this in conjunction with Weather-Display? I have gone to Lycos for help and they ask if WD has its own ftp client in it? Please help - not too sure what I am doing here

do you have your main internet switches turned on? go to setup and then setup ftp…

go through the screens for the basic, main internet turned on, ftp upload times turned on (and set) try a test

Do you have the correct connect type? modem? dialup?

Go to http://www.weather-display.com/
there are two help functions one is the help itself and the other is faq

but check your upload switches first. One last thing, is your ISP set, that is your web page address activated? I know with mine it is a multistep process, first saying you want the space, then to activate it.

Check back here soon, others will offer their suggestions also. But do check your switch settings within the program.

I have received useful advice so thank you everyone so far!!! However, I have checked the switches and those that need to be on are on - lycos told me what I should be using as ftp server etc and still this does not work - very frustrating - perhaps I am trying to do to much to start with!!

hi
one of the best things is to check under view, ftp error log
and then full ftp log
but make sure you have ftp logging ticked under connections in the ftp setup

post what is shown then after going to action, update internet web page now
the other thing to set is the station file name under setup, web page setup, and whether you want a .htm or .html extension

this looks OK?

also, what did you mean by either htm or html? Sorry very new to this.

Looks like the FTP Host/Server is not setup properly for the Lycos ISP (never connected to FTP server).

Looks like you were able to FTP to your web page one time.

Use the same setup for Weather Display Connections.

Nah, that was just copied from the webfiles on my hard rive just to put something there as an example! Loks need I need to work on this some more

How were you able to copy the files to the web page at http://www.chaseruk.co.uk/index.html ?? Did you FTP them to another system or are you hosting the web page on the same computer as WD is on?

Hello there - I located the image file on the hard drive of my PC and uploaded the gif image! I can almost see how all this should work but its actually getting it to work if you know what I mean! Lycos tell me the host is definately ftp.chaseruk.co.uk so I have that in there - Let me work this out. I assume the Wd software has its own ftp software in it? When it uploads it sends a copy of those files otherwise found under C:\wdisplay\webfiles to my ftp client. Here is the thing I am concerned about or cannot work out in my head. How do those images get displayed on your website. Do you link them from another page within your website or do you integrate using the lycos own web builder software or is this where the problem is?

Everyone is being a great help and I really appreciate it and I think I am getting there slowly

Many thanks

Matthew.

In fact just tried it and this is the message I got in my full log file…
Indeed, I do get the impression there is a problem re this internet sharing?

Hi Matthew,

Hello there - I located the image file on the hard drive of my PC and uploaded the gif image!
Did you use a stand alone FTP program to uploaded the gif image?
I assume the Wd software has its own ftp software in it? When it uploads it sends a copy of those files otherwise found under C:\wdisplay\webfiles to my ftp client.
Yes, under FTP/Internet setup

hi
untick internet sharing in the connectionds setup…that should help

and also post here the ftplogfull.txt file as well
(and have ftp logging ticked in the connections setup)

Hiya Windy and everyone! To be honest, I did have the internet sharing clicked and I did not get this message before - it looks slightly different somehow? Can anyone help looking at this?

Logging onto FTP server…chaseruk.co.uk
Connecting to FTP server.
10061: [10061] Connection refused

thats the critial piece of information

maybe you should have the ftp server as ftp.chaseruk.co.uk
instead of just chaseruk.co.uk
in the connections setup

i just tried a anonymous ftp to ftp.chaseuk.co.uk
and was able to get in OK (except for incorrect login)

so that is the solution

hi
if its still no working, export and email me your wdisplayftp.ini file from the registry, and i will test here
see:
http://www.weather-display.com/exportregistry.html

for how to do that

only thing is I cannot access my account a the moment but this does look good!!! MANY THANKS EVERYONE -lets hope that’s the end of that little saga

hi
the files are going somewhere…but into cyberspace…

it might be that they are going to a different remote directory

post here the contents of the ftplogfull.txt file after a web page update,

(and or email em your ftp setings so i can have a look in the ftp server)
