The trees… ok, but the arc is 100% false.

It doesn’t look natural, the color bands are to wide, not fluent or smooth enough.
Besides that, it looks like the cza is to low in the sky compared to the trees.

I guess this image was made specially for an artikel in (on?) the Chronicle…

The corresponding article was published on 23 February 2007. Contrary to a previous opinion I think this is genuine. Circumzenithal arcs are well documented. Just google a bit and you’ll find many examples, I like this one: http://www.meteoros.de/arten/ee11e.htm.

Hi Aviva, I’m not saying that csa’s don’t excist.
They do and how, but the one shown here, looks very fake.
I’ve shown the image on a weather optics forum and they were unanimous in their opinion: “fake”.
