advisory difficulty

if you would, please take a look at the link below. it says there are no current advisories, but right under that is an advisory.

aside from the titles, the only thing I modified was the heading as far as I know.

can someone help point me in the proper direction to fix this?

many copious thank you’s.

Would you post a copy of your wxlocal4.html so we could see which tags are being used?

Thanks,
Ken

hi ken:

thanks for the reply. I’ve attached the code as a notepad text file to this reply.

wxlocal4code.txt (4.46 KB)

The code you’re using is from the carterlake template for wxlocal4.html

    <div id="main-copy">

	  <h3>The Voorhees Weather Station Watches Warnings Advisories from the National Weather Service</h3>

		<pre><span style="text-transform: uppercase;">%NOAAEvent%</span>
		</pre>
		<pre>%noaawarningraw%
		</pre>

<img src="http://maps.wunderground.com/data/severe/current_severe_nostatefarm.gif?dontcache=<?echo $garbage?>" width="630" height="480" border="0" alt="national advisories"></img>

    </div>

and uses %NOAAEvent% and %noaawarningraw% . Is WD set to receive zone warnings for your zone?

Ken

ken:

yes, I am using the carter lake templates on my site. and yes, w-d is setup to relay the zone warnings for njz018…

Joe,

Your site is… all messed up…

http://jaypea500.zapto.org/ ← broken link

http://72.73.215.36:1024/wx.html ← Apparent home page

http://72.73.215.36:1024/wx4.html ← Advisories page (working!)

http://72.73.215.36:1024/copy%20of%20wx4.html ← Just what is this page?

As I click through pages… the left nav bar changes… it’s opening links to the wrong page… or another window…

hi tom:

actually, I’m right in the middle of making some changes. I’m preparing to move the site from my own server to a web host with a real address, instead of the goofy “zapto” address.

of course that means some of the links, etc aren’t going where they should. I’m finding that making a change means doing so globally, but it’s slow going. lots of pages and lots of custom links, and of course some changes to be made in the main app (w-d) as well.

I guess I’d be better off just taking the whole site down for a couple of days rather than play with things while live. but then again, it’s only a hobby site, and while I’d like to think at least a few people might be surfing it, it’s really just for my own gratification.

by the way, the problem that started this thread has been resolved. while I understood that the advisories come from the noaa warning module in w-d (which worked fine on my previous site), I didn’t realize that I had to make sure I also had to have the “scrolling” option checked. once I did that all was well…

tom:

everything should be working properly now. I decided to make a copy of the current templates to work on, and restore everything back to the way it was for the “zapto” address. you do have to append the address with “/wx.html” for the moment. I have w-d set to change wxlocal.html to index.html, but it won’t do it. gotta figure that out now…

That looks good Joe. So… are you still having a problem with the advisory?

no, the advisory problem that started this thread has been resolved. while I understood that the advisories come from the noaa warning module in w-d (which worked fine on my previous site), I didn’t realize that I had to make sure I also had to have the “scrolling” option checked. once I did that all was well. apparently the noaaevent tag is tied to the scroll, while noaawarningraw is tied to the actual warning…
