Memory leak

Hi all!

Have you ever see this? (picture below)

First time I see this couple of days ago. I can’t get nothing data from Vantage.
I try reconnect VirtualVP but it not want start. Then I close all programs and restart PC.
After that VP works fine until today at 09:45 same happened again.

VVP error log as follows;

As I say, I have nothing problem with VVP before this.
I don’t think so this be caused by WD (10.35M) but I dowload and install newest N-version (full + zip)

Any idea? Is my PC end of life? #-o

Thanks!
Eki

I have been running VirtualVP demo now for about a 1/2 month and each time I shut it down and some times when it locks up It shows a box that says there are memory leaks in numerous modules.

I like the product but until the memory leak problem is solved I feel the product is not ready for prime time

i would not worry about the reported memory leaks at shut down
they are likely to be only very small and of no real concern
steve has the report there only to fine tune and try and fix the worst offenders if he can
i think your concerns drlee630 are over the top (but thats just me)

Eki, do you have a usb data logger?

No, I have serial version (VantagePro-1)

I think so this cause is in my pc.
When I enabling my soundcard from motherboard I can expect somethink like this. I don’t know why I did this once again… #-o Maybe demency, this heat wave or something…

Once more I did clean install to my machine and now it works fine.
PC is dedicated to weather stuff and WD and other weather- and camera software are by own hard disk so this is not big deal, (once a year) unpleasant of course.

Most of the memory leaks shown on your screenshot are either directly caused or indirectly caused by the third party low level communications library VirtualVP uses. These leaks happen when there is an unexpected disruption of the communication between the console and VirtualVP (which can be seen in the activity log where the console is not responding to commands that are sent). I don’t have enough information to be able to tell you why the communications to the console were interrupted.

The memory leaks in the third party library (which only happen when something goes wrong with the connection to the console) have been a nagging problem. Not everyone gets them, and they’re more common if you have the USB datalogger since that device is known to occasionally drop connection.

I’ve rewritten the low level communications library with one of my own. VPLive now uses the new library, and I’m almost done plugging it into VirtualVP. The next version of VirtualVP will use the new library. This will give me more control over fixing these sorts of communication issues, and handle interruptions more gracefully without memory leaks.

in the FAQ on this forum I posted a link to the new drivers for the VP USB data logger that Davis recommends
feedback looks good
