Max same day temp change?
« on: April 11, 2006, 02:07:57 AM »
What is a reasonable limit for maximum same day temperature changes?

Today I saw 49 degrees (F) change from coldest to warmest!

Is this unusual?  My daytime temps seem to be consistant with other local readings, but my nights are colder, which has been my personal experience over the years with several different outdoor sensors.

Your Elevation could play a part. Are you at higher altitude than the other stations
you are comparing with ?

Actually, I'm around 200-300 feet below the nearby stations, they are on hilltops, while I'm in a depression.

Cold air rolls down slopes in the evening & pools in a hollow. Do you get more servere frosts ?

Yes, in fact that was a major factor in starting the weather station to develop the records to aid our gardening hobby.
