Maryland -- Driest March since 1910

Public Information Statement for Hollywood, MD

…A warm and record dry March across the region…

March was a warm and exceptionally dry month. Previous records for the driest March were blown away this year. Precipitation of only a few hundredths of an inch was common across the Baltimore and Washington Metro area. The snowstorm on February 11-12, 2006 was the last time there was any appreciable precipitation.

Average temperatures were one and a half to two and a half degrees above normal and precipitation was around three and a half inches below normal. Martinsburg…Hagerstown…and Baltimore Washington Airport were the only locations that reported more than a tenth of an inch of precipitation on any single day. There was plenty of teasing going on with several days reporting only a trace of precipitation.

Washington Reagan…Washington Dulles…Baltimore Washington…and Martinsburg all had their driest March on record.

                                                 March previous
