Full site template no. 1

Tom,
Am I loosing my mind, or is wxlocal8 missing (links page)?

Nope… I’m losing my mind… I completely left it out of the zip file.

Fixed and reuploaded. (this is just not my day for custom templates)

Well, maybe this will make your day a little better…
Here’s my first quick attempt (without the links page working)

I’ll be editing it some more for sure, but it all works

http://www.sterlingrun.com/weather/wx10.html

I’ll put the links page in now…

That does make it all worthwhile. Thanks! 8)

(I wonder if anyone will leave the “About This City” in there…)

Ok - got the links page working.

Hope you don’t mind, but I found a little bug I think.
On the “Daily Stats” page, under “hot days this month” & “cold days this month” the first two tags under those headings are not rendering properly.

I am so impressed! You sure put a lot of work into this - thanks so much for sharing!
Have some more editing to do, like on the “about us” page, etc, and a small CSS change to suit my taste…

THANK YOU!

Nope… I doublechecked the template… what are you editing the files with? It changed > into > and that broke the custom tags.

I’m editing with NVU - I’ll go back and check it out right now…

Probably a question for Brian, about the moon tags - they seem to show only in UTC - I can’t find how to change to local time.

Be right back…

OK - got it. I ended up having to open the page up in notepad to make the change.
For some reason NVU is doing this. I went into advanced properties, and tried a couple different settings without any luck.
Anyway, got it fixed.

Thanks!

Wow - all those tags sure makes WD do some crunching!

Tom

They look great. Thank you for a job well done.

I just finished getting the 1 pager working, looks like this will be a project for tomorrow night.
One quick question is there a way on the forecast to get the NOAA weather icons to link?

Greg

greg, you need to set a lower theshold for the barometer and temperature , to avoid the barometer and dew point lines from going out of range

Tom, this is a great page. I tried the 1st one and got alot off feed back. It ran about 70/30 against the new page. I think they’ll like this one, it has the things they wanted from the other page.
I’ve downloaded it and TRIED to fill in the blanks site name, town, radar, ect. But it wont stick. Always goes back to default. Any advise?

Did you put them in your WD page creation folder?

Did you turn on the big “override” switch in the custom upload screen?

Hi Greg,

The short answer is “no”.

The long answer is that you have several options not covered in the basic template. You could add a third party graphic with the icons like from Weatherforyou.com, you should use an

Great work Tom … Thanks
I’m on travel and can’t wait to get back home and set up the new templates.

Again, thanks for your efforts.

Tom I down loaded everything to the webfile folder and yep I had the wife mean override switch on.

What are you editing the template pages with?
Are you sure you are saving the page correctly to the correct location?

I put my vanila page back up till I get this sorted out. I use notepad to edit. I was editing the file wx and saving after every change. I even tried editing index out on the FTP site.
It’s just me I tried this last winter and I got sooooo frustrated. I gave up and waited for you.

Tom, I put it back up after making my changes to wx and checked it out twice on the desk top before uploading and came out as the default settings.

It’s working now!

By the way, you’ll want to download a new copy before you start editing… snowman found a few problems that i fixed.
