WD SHUTSDOWN AFTER UPGRADING FROM LA CROSSE TO DAVIS VP

Instead of shutting down this morning just the web files have stopped updating at 5am this morning...here is the data from the programerrorlog.txt
Going to disable NAV and see what happens...I see the last file scanned was clientraw.txt.

i see its occuring every 10 minutes
what do you have set to occur every 10 minutes?
any web updates or similar?
if you could run the beta/debug version, then it will hopefully give more clues as to where the error is occuring

yep webfiles update every 10 minutes. If I install the beta debug where will I find the extra logging info to try and find what is wrong?

it pops up a message box, and emails me the data

Excellent...if excluding the wdisplay and www root folder, and wdisplay.ini from being scanned doesn't help I will disable NAV all together and if thats no go.....bring on the beta / debug!

WD shutdown again today with the debug version. Did you get an email...computer name server?

do you have a time aprox that it did that?
(UTC time?)
also try running the latest beta/debug version
and, also, make sure wd is able to send the email (i.e firewall status., etc)
also, are you running any anti virus software?

I have noticed that WD freezes for a a while before it exits. Uses %100 of CPU so I am not sure it will send the email anyway?
I am running symantec antivrus corporate 9. I have exclude the wdisplay and www root directories from being scanned as well as the wdisplay.ini file.
I can't realy afford to have no AV, as its on the net 24/7.

a good firewall and router is what is needed....viruses otherwise then are from email attachments:
dont have the preview pane visible in outlooks express or similar
and dont open emails from people you dont know
alot of ISP's scan emails now...
but it that might not be what the problem is...(antivirus program conflicting)

ok...if it does freeze and exit again I will disable the AV to test it. The server is connected to a billion 5100 modem/router via ethernet and also has sygate personal firewall pro installed.

Hi Brian,
I have installed the latest beta. Hopefully this will sort things out.
Computer name is server.
I even tried re-imaging the server with an image I had made when it was first setup.
Only locking up and exiting after davis install.
Tried disabling the antivirus but no good either.

it could even be a usb to serial driver issue, if you are using a usb to serial driver with your VP?

No convertors at all. Just straight usb. Communication is ok but wd just cracks the sh!ts after a while...

there are still usb drivers involved, as its still usb to serial, done at the data logger
now, is it that wd stops getting data, or is it that wd crashes?
