CWOP and Davis Weatherlink 5.5.1
« on: March 25, 2005, 06:15:04 PM »
Brand new to this: using Weatherlink 5.5.1 and have received my CW number from CWOP.  I have set the system for uploading every 10 minutes for the past two days, but find-u shows no activity from my station. I am using the internet, not Ham radio transmission.
I have the Lat and Long in proper format and tried both my call sign and the CWxxxx number, no change.
I am uploading to the newengland aprs site.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Most folks here will not be using WeatherLink. This is the support site for Weather Display software, a much better program with great support and friendly users to help.  Weather Display is 100 times better than Weatherlink and I recommend you give it a trial run and see if it meets your needs.  You can download here http://www.weather-display.com/files.php.

As you have found out, getting answers from Davis, especially on the Weatherlink software, is near impossible.  Brian, the author of Weather Display, is highly supportive of his program.  And the thousands of users on this forum are available to help as well.

Ok.  everyone one is right, but I will help you.  IF you can get the weatherlink to work then Wdisplay will as well.

OK. you have typed in your stuff for your CWOP.  now have you gone to the profile area and selected it as one of the reports you are sending?
So we have your call sign in exactly  as it should be.  Cap letters followed by numbers.   Under Telnet  APRS: aprswest.net
Port 23;  PW  either default of -1 vers wl 5.2     and of course your coordinates in place.  then ok.  then to the left of the config button.  did you push On"?
then you will need to go to the top of that profile box screen and set the time the reports will be sent.. i.e. every 15 min  then ok.

check the log under file to see if it is being sent.  You might want to make sure that your firewall will also let it through and it should be good to go.

You can balance the checking if you want download the free unit that wdisplay has on board.

I use both the Wdisplay and the Weatherlink.   The weatherlink for my historical graphs as well as the evil percent reception stats and some other reports and with Wdisplay, I use that for everything else.  What I don't like about weatherlink is that when data is uploading to the net, the program won't allow one to do anything else and of course no software support.  Weather Display is the opposite.  You can do everything else while data is uploading withthe software, tremendous software support and the ability to get Brian to tweak his software to make me happy ( although his off for a month in the UK), and all these nuts on the board as well tohelp you.

IF you haven't tried the trial version, you should  and definitely the aprs lite .

One question.  are you sending anything to weather underground?  does it work if you do?
VP2, Daytime Fars, Solar/UV; Soil station; extra temp/humid station; extra temp stations; Windows 7, 8G Ram , 1TB drive/external and a D-Link DCS930L IP Webcam.

Thanks gents, I got it running.  Although I am not sure what I did.  I went back and checked all you advised and don't remember anything being out of place.  The log kept showing FTP failure (error 87 I think).  But after this last run it is gooing to CWOP and to Weather underground.

You are right, the Davis site offers nothing, and not many forums talk about weatherlink.

I will try the weather display.

Thanks again!
