New weather station HW
« on: July 10, 2011, 10:31:34 AM »
Hi, I am planning to get a new weather station, I have a Lacrosse WS2300 today, but I would like a new and better one. I use WD for Mac and WDL for my website www.gunnarbu.com/var I would prefer no cables

Any suggestions? These three looks nice, but are they any good, which is best, and which works best wih WD/WDL? Or do you have other suggestions? I guess my budget would be 500 - 1000$

Lacrosse WS2801
Oregon Scientific WMR200
Oregon Scientific WMR928NX

Thanks for any help!

Regards

I wasn't impressed with the O.S. products.  Had an WMR100 and they don't compare with the Davis products.  Depending on what you want to do and the number of sensors, I would look into the Davis Vantage stations, either the Vue or the VP2.

I'd tend to agree with Dan.
The price you'll pay for one of the three you've listed then you may as well go for Davis Vue and if your budget will stretch to it then a VP2.
The advantage with the VP2 over the Vue is that you can add extra sensors in the future.
You do have to figure in the price of the datalogger with the Davis though so you would be look at around $500 for a Vue and $700 for the basic VP2.

I agree with Budgie, none of those is likely to be much improvement over what you have, maybe the 928 but that's a very old and close to discontinued station. Unfortunately I suspect Davis is expensive where you are, but it really is the way to go.

after some thinking, I have ended up on Davis Vantage Pro2 wireless and a complete Meteohub installation from a local reseller at Ringebu, Norway, very close to my cabin at Venabygdsfjell and they also deliver my broadband connection, that will give me a good setup and local support. Looking forward to develop my weather web pages!
