I vote for the new scheme, eve though it still does not work for me here, but perhaps Brian could make the two different methods user selectable if that is a concern...

Brian, I am not sure you want to remove what is available now as some folks may like that...

If the datahtm1.txt file isn't editable then I am not sure what options there would be for those using the default pages.  If it is able to be edited then we need a FAQ on how to remove what is currently available and replace with Tom's code...

I am always hesitant to suggest changing something that isn't broke for the sake of better and newer as not everyone always agrees that Newer - Better is really better as they get used to certain things...

I would think making it selectable in some fashion would be optimum, and I agree i far prefer the New CarterLake version myself, however being around apps for some years I have seen some loud cries and moans when something was replaced with newer/better when the original wasn't broke...

Of course those that are happy with the Old method may be the ones that aren't upgrading often either and that may make a difference as well...

It would be great if Brian added this scroll. I fooled with it myself but was afraid I'd make too much of a mess and promised Brian no more problems for awhile after the past weekend of fixes. Embarassed

If you are managing your own datahtm.txt files you could add it to your current page, just can't replace the top portion of the page as it appears that we cannot manage the datahtm01.txt file, but you should be able to add it to your page by adding the script code to your datahtm0.txt.

If added directly below your "BODY BACKGROUND" tag in the datahtm0.txt file it will appear on at the very top of your web page.

Test of concept can be seen here...

Jax,

I'll give it a try (maybe this evening). I guess I'll have to make a NOAA events tag page to post is that correct? I still have not tackled the Custom Page setup.

Thanks.

I thought I saw it when I updated Sunday but I was afraid to try it. So it was on the 10.23C that is current (at least in the ZIP).

OK, I ticked the box for the scroll, added a URL for the warning page. The page still looks the same. Big warning box same as before, what did I miss?

You have to "Untick" "Include in my default WD web page"

Then after it updates the Java box will be gone.  If you have no warnings or advisories you can view the raw source code of the page on the web and see the New scroller code...

That would be the link you want to include so that if someone clicks on your Warning scroller they are taken to additional information.

My link is http://JaxWeather.net/JaxWeatherWarning.php while Tom uses a custom WD generated page wxlocal4.html which when uploaded is named wx4.html.  http://www.carterlake.org/wx4.html

You can make the link anything you want, to your Local NWS main page or a custom page.

Hope this helps,
Bob
