Weather Display Questions re Wireless Weather Stations

Hi

I am looking at doing a couple of things and would like to know if WD can cope

  1. Move from cumulus to WD, I have a fine offset weatherstation with solar (and 5 years data)
  2. My weatherstation is also limping along so want to replace it with an EcoWitt HP2551 (it is wifi connected only)… so I can either retrieve the data using an SD card or get WD to retrieve the data from either weather underground or WOW… is this possible?

Any suggestionswould be great

thanks

WD does work with the WH3081
re the wifi station
WD can be set to get the data from WU (using their new api ,you need to get a new api key)

Hi Brian

Thanks for the info. The WH3081 has a USB, and HP 2551 doesnt, it is purely wifi direct to internet. I was trying to go away from USB ports as the fine offset ones lock up (in my case often). Do you know if this problem ever had a solution?

So WD can get data from Weather Underground, any others?

Thanks
Tony

WD does not have the lock up problem with the WH1081/WH3081 type stations

only WU, the others do not provide a ready available way to get your data

Thanks once again Brian… last question

Will WD support this Fine Offset
http://www.ecowitt.com/weather_station/5.html
HP3500B

Thanks

Yes
As already stated
Via WU Data ( using the new api)
If the station is set to send to that

Note that the HP3500B has a tiny (but nice) console display.

Hi Bran

Also has a USB connection to a PC. which is what I was thinking about?

tc

I do not know how or if that can even be used
but it might work like this model
http://kona2.alc.upv.es/Estacio_Meteorologica/aercusWDsetup.htm

The HP3500B don 't Works with this method

can that station be set to send data to WU?

Yes they work with WU, but WU is slow and not very reliable

its just that , that is one way to get data, via WU, into WD (but yeah limited on the update rate)

Hi

thanks for the info. Can WD get the data from an IP connected Fine Offset weather station? Such as the WH2320E - they are all using the same outside unit, but subtle differences in the console. The WH2320E can publish direct to the internet (wireless) and can be connected to a PC via IP.

tc

I am not sure of the IP data protocol for that new station type
(seems that every model they change the data protocol)
it might be similar to the standard WiFi pro station
i.e that works like this
http://kona2.alc.upv.es/Estacio_Meteorologica/aercusWDsetup.htm
or it might not

Se

so the pc software that comes with it can get the data via the usb connection
I wonder if the data protocol is the same then
and I see then that software is not tied strictly to WU , i.e you can set the destination for that HTTP GET data
and so have a script to read that data
that could then be a way to get WD to catch that data too via setting to a local IP address ?

I have tried to catch the data via HTTP and USB and no luck

are you able to set the destination IP address for the WU type data in the software?

I am a little confused about what WD will support

The HP3500B has a USB interface which talks to EasyWeather 2 or Plus. My understanding is WD can talk to FineOffset USB interefaces… but apparently not this one?
