Cannot get Vantage Vue to show data

So, I finally got my Vantage Vue with the data logger here, installed everything, console is talking nicely to the ISS and weatherlink software connects to the station via Com port 10.

WD is set to Com port 10, Vantage Vue station and during startup, it seems to pull the day/time just fine and then does not get any data nor does it display any data like temp, humidity etc. The “Data received” light blinks, but the count stays at zero.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? I am running out of ideas. Am using Windows 7 with the latest WD version 10.37S

Is it a USB logger? If you ran weatherlink then the logger has probably been set to USBXpress mode that WD can’t handle. There should be either a menu item or utility program with weatherlink to reset the logger to com port mode

The post refers to COM Port 10, so it’s not a weatherlink IP logger and your comments about the IP and port 22222 are unlikely to be relevant.

  • It is the USB data logger that has the virtual COM port (set to COM 10, 19200 Baud here)
  • The latest driver from silabs.com has been installed, device detection works flawless
  • Weatherlink is configured for COM 10, Serial port (NOT USB Express) and it is working fine (means it is downloading data and has no communication issues)!
  • Based on Weatherlink working fine in Serial Port (COM 10) mode, I doubt that it is a hardware related problem
  • WD seems to detect the station (“Data History Extraction” window shows up and has the bar showing the download progress)

Still ZERO data is being displayed in WD. Never thought there would be that much trouble with one of the most common weather stations :frowning:

Even the WD debug log of WD shows that it talks to the console:

Well, don’t ask me why, but it miraculously suddenly started working again after resetting all the data offsets in the “Offsets/Initial Rain” part of the menu. Maybe it was related to something stored inside the app from the previous station (was a 13 year old WMR 968 - Rest In Pieces…)? Either way, everything seems to be back to normal!

Thanks everybody who chimed in!

That’s good news  Probably a barometer offset (not needed by Davis) which put the baro reading out of range.

My bad. I misread the post. No harm done (I hope).

I’m still trying to set the COM port to 22222

Thanks again everybody who chimed in! Greatly appreciated!

most likely the problem was the too large a barometer offset left over from the old weather station type settings
