Problem recovering VP2 datalogger data

I’ve been having problems recovering data from the datalogger on my Davis VP2 following WD downtime. On restarting WD the data logger dialog box appears and searches from a plausible date & time; however, the count just ticks up without the data being recovered and I’m eventually forced to click Abort to avoid losing any more data. View>Program Debug Info shows the following

connected OK to com port 3
*sending DMPAFT
Asking for archived data download
Davis VP Retrieving data from: day 7 month 7 year 2017
Retrieving data from: hour 17 minute 20
ask for time/date of record…

I’m running Windows 10 and WD V10.37S54 (though I first noticed the issue with V10.37S38 a couple of months ago - prior to this, data was recovered without problem).

WD is set the VP2 time daily, so mismatched times shouldn’t be a problem.

Any help appreciated.

you could try a complete reset of the data logger
(i.e power down the console, remove the data logger (and unplug from pc), wait 5 minutes, put back in, power up console, then set the time/date correct on the data logger and the data logging interval (e.g 1 minute)
then test
