Feels Like temperature showing less than real temp. Should be humidex more than

Hello,

Funny thing here. I am in Ontario Canada, where the temperatures are hot and there is a humidex. For some reason, I am showing something like wind chill where the “feels like” temperatures are lower than the actual temperature. I have not seen this before and have looked in the forum and did not see anyone else that has had this issue.

Could someone point me in the right direction. I am not 100% sure that it has not always been this way, however, I did not notice it before. I noticed it yesterday morning and I had a site visitor send me an email about it.

You can see it in the graph on my forecast page. http://www.brantfordweather.ca/html/kennedy.php and the hour by hour http://www.brantfordweather.ca/html/kennedy.php

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

I think the humidex is being calculated using the correct formula (it’s the official EC one), BUT I just tried a couple of online Humidex calculators, and it looks like they’ve got the value “floored” at the actual temperature. In other words, if the formula yields a number lower than the actual temperature (because the air is fairly dry), then you discard this and set the humidex equal to the temperature. I don’t think this is done with the U.S. “heat index”. I’ll check into this more.

Thanks!

Tom
