Visualization of global weather conditions

I came across this one poking around the Astronomy Picture of the Day archive. it is “A visualization of global weather conditions forecast by supercomputers updated every three hours” Click on the word “earth” in the lower left to bring up a control panel that lets you select various parameters to display. Click on the globe to show values at that location. Double click zooms in, Scroll wheel zooms in and out. Drag to rotate the globe.
Update: when the control panel is open, click on the word “earth” just above it to close it.

Interesting demo of many different map projections

Have a look at https://www.windy.com then.
They allow iFrame embedding on own website.

For any of us watching what is happening this site may be of interest as well. http://cci-reanalyzer.org/

I’ve been keeping watch on these sites for several years now, and despite what the Deniers are saying, it’s quite evident that we’ve gone from a relatively linear change into an exponential one. It’s rather amusing (in a dark way) to see how the weather outlets are doing their best to put a good “spin” on the weather events in areas that have never seen things such as Haboob, Rain Bombs, Tropical Downpours (increasingly evident in states such as Florida, which seems to be now experiencing a largely Tropical Climate rather than Subtropical.

All we can really do at this point is to get the best available data and decide for ourselves, but I’m seeing a very bumpy road ahead, and I’m not at all sure if there isn’t a cliff beyond a not too far off “dip in the road”.

I didn’t realize they had changed their name. It used to be windyty.com. But, I really like their maps and use them on a couple of my pages.
