Davis Serial Weatherlink

I recently paid off my mortgage, so I just spent my tax refund on a shiny new Davis 6163. I have an older serial weatherlink that I got a few years ago (~2008) to use with an old used Vantage Pro that I got on eBay.

  1. Am I correct that I will need a new revision serial weatherlink for the new console?
  2. Can I use the old console/weatherlink with the new ISS to drive WD without loss of functionality?

Thanks;
Steve

Yes. You could also consider one of the third party loggers like belfry boy’s, AFAIK he can do regular serial too.

2. Can I use the old console/weatherlink with the new ISS to drive WD without loss of functionality?

It depends.

You wrote “old used Vantage Pro” - If the console is indeed a Vantage Pro and not Vantage Pro 2 then no, it’s a whole different wireless system. If that old used console is from a Vantage Pro 2 then almost certainly yes. Post the model number if not sure.

Thanks fo your support, niko.
The old unit is, in fact a Vantage Pro 2.
Guess I am just getting lazy in my old age.

You should be good to go then :smiley: I replaced my VP2 ISS recently but kept the original consoles and weatherlinks.
