@sdjones
when you say nothing, do you mean you get a spinning beach ball?
there is another thread started by DeputyDawg where I have suggested to use a usb data logger with the mac instead of a serial data logger
and then you use the Davis Silicon labs driver for the Mac
I ordered a uSB logger. Was supposed to have been here Friday. But with the storms in the northeast it’s delayed till Monday. I won’t be able to do try it out till next weekend.
No spinning beach ball. The port opens but shows no packets received. If I go into the settings, every so often I will get a packet or two and the values seem correct.
If I use the screen command in a terminal window, I do see repetitive data coming from the port so the computer is seeing the weather station.
I should add, this id’s an Ultimeter 2100 I’m playing with.
I was wondering if it’s a communications port setting? I know when I tried the Mac version many years ago, you sent me several debug versions to play with.
if you could post a screen shot of how you have it setup on the Mac (for the ultimeter setup)
I do have a ultimeter console here now so I can do some testing
Next problem is how to release the comm port when the program exits?
I’ve tried using the Exit menu item and I’ve tried going into the Control Panel and closing the comm port but nothing works. The comm port stays open and locked.
If you try to restart the program, you get the spinning beach ball.
The only way to release the comm port is to reboot the computer.
283 seems to have fixed the serial port closure issue. Thanks.
I’ve got some funkiness happening with some readings not showing up and the graph no updating with any of the wind readings.
I’ve included a screenshot of the OSX and Windows screens side by side.
The Average Wind Speed isn’t updating, the windchill is wrong (due to wind speed?), the maximum gusts are wrong, the maximum temperature is wrong and the minimum temperature is wrong. You can also see the timestamp for the temperature readings is wrong.
The OSX version has just been running a few minutes and the Windows version has been running for quite a few days now.
