accidental tip

Hey folks

What would you do? ok, we had rain yesterday, this morning i went out and checked the manual gauge
i dont remember even slightly knocking the other buckets yet one has recorded rain, could have been dew though
The tipper must have been right on the balance point for it to have tipped seen as there wernt much dew today.

so, what would you do, leave that as a record of todays (none existent rain) or add it to yesterdays rain? :?

Manual gauge for yesterday said about 1.5/1.6mm (i wrote as 1.5mm)
Davis recorded yesterday 1.4mm and is the one that tipped adding 2mm for today
OS on the other hand only recorded 1.3mm yesterday, but i bet thats right on the edge of a tip too

I would add it to yesterdays rain. That woould be normal practice I believe

Thanks Mike…

This is a standard problem with tipping style rain gauges. While I doubt 1 tip is going to make much difference, I tend to believe my sensors. I have no problem counting dew tips…while not rain in the traditional sense, it is moisture. I don’t think I would make the effort to modify my data…
