California's Oroville Dam

I figured I’d start a separate post for this. This could become a serious issue, but hope it doesn’t.

Thanks for the link Hank. Very interesting.

Lake Oroville holds about 3.5 Million feet/acres of water. That is about the size of Connecticut.

More info in the 10 year storm thread.

Predicted time passed, didn’t actually collapse (yet), things are looking better

Hardly, the lake itself is 25 square miles, it collects water from an area of 3,950 square miles, Connecticut is 5,543 square miles.

Lets not forget you have to consider the depth of the lake.

The dam impounds Lake Oroville, the second largest man-made lake in the state of California, capable of storing more than 3.5 million acre-feet (4.4 km3),[8] and is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills east of the Sacramento Valley.
