Hi Everyone,
I’m finally preparing a new release!
Not a lot of changes, but here’s a brief synopsis
-Added the ability to customize shadowing by mountains, and effects of sloped terrain in general (on solar radiation)
-Fixed a bug which on rare occasions caused the date to revert to the start date during the forecast (I think only one user ever reported this, but I was able to reproduce and fix the problem)
-Added a notice about how to get help in the program
-Added an option to omit humidity (dew point) bias and WXSIM-Lite corrections, which keeping all the temeprature stuff. This was mainly motivated by one user whose station’s hygrometer totally failed, but I’ve seen other questionable humidity data in users’ files before, so this may have some wider application
I haven’t tested this much yet (though I plan to give it more of a workout). I would appreciate anybody who’s willing to try it out, make sure everything runs smoothly, and maybe test out that item about omitting humidity corrections. The check box for that is toward the bottom of the form that appears under Start/Auto Run and Other Settings. If you are using autolearn (or manual wret.exe-based) bias corrections, and/or WXSIM-Lite, then you could do a controlled experiment, trying forecasts with and without the box checked. NOT checked is the default state (like you’ve effectively been doing all along). With it checked, the temperature forecast should be almost (maybe not quite) identical to not-checked, but the dew point (see the mean values in the summary, supplemental data or whatever at the end of the forecast, like in latest.txt) will likely be a little different. I tend to find that users station hygrometers average a little higher than otherwise expected by WXSIM, so I think checking the box might lower most peoples average dew points a tad.
The new exe file is at
You can use it to replace the one you have, though it might be a good idea to save a copy of what you have now.
Thanks for any feedback you may have!
