Testing streaming camera - need volunteers to view

You might want to look into third party software. AFAIK this site’s livecam uses “webcam 7” to generate the stream, it works great for me in chrome and ie http://www.cospringsweather.com/Hikvision1.php

I recently added the videolasthour.mp4 to my webcam page...I can't watch it using Chrome, but it does work in Safari.
i can view mp4 video OK in chrome:

yours does not play, error, file could not be played
which suggests to me you have a problem with your html code
are you using the latest moviemaker.exe version?

I’m using 64 bit Chrome and Brians JW videos work fine for me, but I get that same error message for yours :?

that is a very small delay between images
try increasing that
but also what is your actual html code to load the movie

the problem is not with the html code
but with the actual .mp4 file
i.e it does not play:
http://travelingrvwx.com/videolasthour.mp4

whereas mine does
http://www.weather-display.com/windy/gb/videolasthour.mp4

are you using the latest moviemaker.exe version, which comes with the full install of WD
or download from
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/moviemaker.zip

They both open in VLC, but an MP4 analyzer shows Brian’s is coded in avc1 and Dan’s is mp4v

I saw the file headers were different and explored a bit. I don’t see any such option in the webcam setup, I was thinking it might mean you and Brian are using different versions.

moviemakerlog says "Movie Maker II vers 7.1"
that is the version from build 81 you need to be using the latest version, including with the full install download from http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/moviemaker.zip

I see it is working now (short video though?)

what is your bitrate and framerate settings?

I do not have that problem here, re video last hour only being the minutes like that…instead it uses the minutes of the whole hour prior
see for your self
http://www.weather-display.com/windy/gb/grahamsbeach.htm

using the every 30 second images should not affect the quality

if you could post screen shot… of your all day video setup…
also this really should be in its own thread, you have hijacked dans thread

This is strange… my livecam works at home, but not from my office, where I think there are firewall entries blocking the port I’m using.

Would one of you kindly check to see if you can see my live camera image and let me know?

It should be viewable in all browsers now.

works for me, Chrome

Chrome - OK, IE11 - no image.

Thanks guys. If anyone today still uses IE as their default browser, I pity them.

Has anyone tried Edge or Firefox?

edge not working here

I officially said in the wiki that my template is not guaranteed to work in IE, not only does it have to behave differently than all the other browsers (especially CSS), but even every version of IE is different, so you would then have separate scripts for:

  • “a browser” - FF, Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, Vivaldi, Safari
  • IE 11
  • IE 10
  • IE 9

also taking into account the overall share of IE I would have to be nuts to worry about this… sorry IE fans

So basically, Jachym, you’re saying that that your templates work for you in your own browser but you can’t be guaranteed that it’ll work for everyone in every other browser (in a polite sort of way, lol!).

I’ve come to that conclusion myself - it works for me in my own browser of choice (Chrome) but if it doesn’t work for others who do not use Chrome then it’s not up to me to fix it. True?

I never said that, look what I said:

my template is not guaranteed to work in IE

meaning, I test and make sure it works in Chrome, FF, Opera, Android, Safari etc… I usually try IE, which is most of the time good, but not always. I never said it only works in Chrome.
