IP camera configure

I have a new Amcrest IP camera with 1080 hd that I want to use with WD. I’ve entered the URL everyway I can think of but can’t get any preview in WD. I’ve entered my user name and PW into WD’s IP camera setup but get no preview. I’m using NO-IP and have the camera’s IP setup in the router to port forward it to a new port. This works fine on a browser and I can enter http://NO-IP address:65444 and it takes me to my camera’s login screen. I can log in and see live video. Any suggestions?

Second, my camera is making .dav video files and sending them to a folder on my weather website via FTP. Can WD use .dav video format or do I need to get a different IP camera? Does WD require a video format like mpeg, avi, mp4?

I’ve spent waaaay too many hours trying to get this to work and could really use some advice

Thanks guys,
David

substitute in your IP address, Port, password
http://192.168.0.13:8109/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=North&pwd=aardvark1

You most likely will not be able to use your No-IP address as the vast majority of routers do not allow hairpinning. You’ll have to use your IP address. WD does not use the video stream, it takes a still and then converts them to video.

I have an Amcrest ProHD. First set you camera to use H.264H encoding. This is the command I use in the WD IP Camera setup

http://192.168.8.155/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?1 (use your IP address and port if needed) and enter in your camera’s user group username and password in WD where needed.

You can find commands for different Amcrest cameras here https://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=Amcrest

WoooHooo! Looks like this combo worked for me: http://my_no_ip_name.ddns.net:65666/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?1

Now if I can just make the dang IR light stay off. Seems like it turns itself on all the time.

Thanks guys…David

If it’s on the same network as the WD PC then it would be more efficient to use the local IP.

Ok…I got rid of the NO-IP address and went straight to the local IP and it works fine too. However, when I use the Amcrest Surveillance Pro app, and click on Live Video, I get a black screen with a big message saying: "Resources are limited, failed to play video stream. I have to switch to the lower resolution Sub-Stream to get a live video on the app.

So now, if I understand correctly, I need to set this up to download individual jpeg images that will be combined into a time-lapse video, right?

Thanks…David

Brian made a video on how to set it up.
