HB1wirereader.exe closing with error - SOLVED

Hi,

I have been using HB1Wirereader with no problems until the other day, the version of WD is 10.37 S9, I have made no hardware changes but get the error message in the attached jpg, the message closes really quickly hence two snaps.

Any idea what the violation is so I can fix it.

Many thanks

Ian

there has been no change to that program for some time (you can tell by the modified time/date stamp)
I would need to add a crash report debug to it

Not sure what’s happened Brian, one day working happily, next an error, tried rebooting as you do, but still a problem, Dallas reader working fine and temp recording well.

Ian

I have added debug crash report to this update
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/HB1wirereader.zip

Thanks for the speedy response, I’ve installed the degbug file, how do I get the information off WD?

Hi Brian,
Saw this thread and noticed that HB1wirereader was not running, manually restarted and got this error…
ERROR: Access violation at address 007B71E3 in module ‘HB1wirereader.exe’. Read of address 00000014 at time/date 10:24:06 AM 5/2/2016
Dallas reader with lightning detector and temp sensor still reporting OK.

Have been running ver 10.37S bld 9, since May 1. I have installed the new HB1wirereader.zip ver 3.5, manually restating reader gets the same error…

Just tried restarting computer and WD with ver 3.5 HB1wirereader, same access error.
No information in error and debug logs.

Thanks,
Gus

Gus,

Thanks for posting up, we have a common issue , usually when things go wrong its’ because I’ve done something wrong lol

do you guys use the relay control?

Yes, I have an 8pt relay board
Gus

I think that will be the problem
drop box, which I use for the remote control, have changed their api
try turning that off in the registry
in wdisplayftp.ini
[12 volt switch to do]
do remote control

so that to no

I have updated the drop box to oauth 2.0
in vers 2.6
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/HB1wirereader.zip

Backed-up wdisplayftp.ini, exited WD, edited and reloaded.
[12 volt switch to do]
do remote control=yes
Setting to “no” stopped the access error, HB1wirereader now running.
Relays look to be working without the remote control enabled.
Gus

Will now try new zip file.

yes, the relay will still work…just the remote control will not…
if you could try the new version with that registry setting set back to yes…

New zipfile - HB1wirereader ver 3.6
Ok with do remote=“no”

Edit and set to yes, get error…
ERROR: Access violation at address 007B831F in module ‘HB1wirereader.exe’. Read of address 00000014 at time/date 5:52:18 PM 5/2/2016

Gus

I have changed 12 volt switch to ‘no’, I wish I’d hung on a few minutes and followed how Gus did it, but I didn’t i.e not taking a back up and closing the program first, the upshot is that even with the switch set to no and the latest HB zip installed, I still get the error.

The file I edited is in wdisplay/databackup.

Ian

you need to actually edit the windows registry, wdsiplayftp.ini, in the registry, using regedit.exe
for that setting noted above

Hi Brian,

All sorted with the same results as Gus, thanks for your help as always.

Ian

Hi
found out more…Drop box dropped the API all together that I was using for the remote control
I could instead switch to using the cloud storage system that I have used for the WDliveapp

Ok, sounds good to me.
Thanks,
Gus
