why do people post re problems about WD on wxforum?

e.g
http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=29223.msg285977;topicseen#msg285977

better to post here

the solution to that particular problem might be to reset/reselect the webfiles location in WD

also re the statement that newer versions will not run on the windows version used, it should do as long as all the available updates and patches are installed for that windows version
(e.g try googling for finding out how to do that)

New people may not know about this forum. Thatā€™s my only thought.

Itā€™s not a new person
The other thing it could b is the ftp needs to be set to passive mode

You see the same for Cumulus issues too, if they are a bit tricky eventually somebody does usually say ā€˜youā€™d be best asking this on the Cumulus support forumā€™ #-o

I guess its the same for all sorts of stuff - ask your mates first, then if all else fails refer to the specialists.

It could also be that they may have fell out with this forum for what ever reasonā€¦

There are stickies The official Weather-Display [Cumulus] forum isnā€™t this oneā€¦

I think the reason is actually quite obviousā€¦

Assumption no 1:

Brianā€™s next post may be ā€œWhy do people try to answer rhetorical questions?ā€

We are human, seek a second opinion, not patient enough for the first opinion.

As one who had his knickers scared off him by Niko (not really) by getting a reply to a question I asked on Wxforum here, I was thinking Big Brother, if not Google, had decided to shift me to another forum.

Then he pointed out that I had joined here a long time ago, and didnā€™t notice that there was a shift.

I will never be able to use all the goodies that WD provides, and being on several hobbies at different intensities, even forget what boards I belong to.

Then when a computer bites the dust and I do a ground up rebuild, may forget that Iā€™m a member of some groups, and never re establish a link and remember the passwords.

It makes sense to go to the forum where the author hangs out. That being said, there are those who say they are ā€˜researchingā€™ for othersā€™ experience. I love it when advertisers imply that all the knowledge and only the ā€˜rightā€™ knowledge is discoverable on the internet, especially when it leads them to buy whatever the advertiser is hawking that day. ā€œI did my research and Iā€¦ā€

Thanks, Brian, for all you do. It has to be a nightmare dealing with so many settings, installations, site blockers, ad blockers and other things that keep things running. And then to convey it to the less computer inclined to try to get them to understand itā€¦ Argh!

you are more likely to get an answer to your question that is related to WD here, than on WXforum
that is what it boils down to

True, that, Brianā€¦ thatā€™s why Iā€™d posted the ā€˜This isnā€™t the official (software-name) forumā€¦ā€™ sticky posts for Weather-Display, Cumulus, Meteohub/Meteobridge, and WUHU in the respective forums with links to the specific URLs for the respective weather software. The WXForum.net forums are listed as ā€˜peer supportā€™. We are lucky that developers like you and Boris do visit wxforum.net from time to timeā€¦ thanks.

yeah, Peer support can work good , so there is that
