IP Webcam?

I hate to post another message looking for recommendations…but I am relatively specific about what I need. I have to replace a Panasonic BL-C140 camera used as my weather cam which I think got zapped by lightning but not sure because it is at my summer cabin which is still under a couple feet of snow (I have security cams around the place). The 140 is not made anymore.

Here are my needs:

  1. Must be IP, can be wireless or wired.
  2. Distance from router is not important.
  3. Must be able to FTP a picture on a schedule, prefer once per minute.
  4. POE would be nice but can do without
  5. Infrared would be a waste of time but most seem to come with it now. Would prefer not so I can put it behind a window but…

Any suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks, Jim

I’ve used two Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I IP cams for the last couple of years and have found them easy to set up, reliable and good day & night imaging.

They do have IR but this can be turned off so they should be fine behind glass, however they are IP66 rated so they’re fine to be outside without a shelter, as mine have been, with no significant signs of corrosion.
They are are POE, which is how I’ve powered them and the connection is weather proof. You do have to put the RJ45 connection on after the seals and screw cap as they won’t fit over the connector.

You can see the timelapse from both of my cams on my old site: http://www.hebwx.co.uk/wxvideo.php
I have taken them down at the moment as I’m in the process of moving house so you can’t see the live video feed at the moment.

I don’t use the on-board FTP function as I have them feeding software called IPTimelapse which does all my video’s for me and as a final taste of what this camera can do, here’s a nice video of night clouds with Aurora in the background.
