Changed PC and updated from XP to 10 with problems

We have had to move from a dual core Windows XP SP3 since it is dying. The new PC is an HP with Intel core i-7, 8 GB of RAM, SSD 240 GB disc and Windows 10. The old machine would stay up long enough to follow “Snowmans” procedure for moving WD from one PC to another and we were running WD 10.37R81.
Following the move WD keeps re-loading itself. First it ‘disappears’ then shows a reload. Gradually the hidden icons box fills up with WD icons until they cannot any longer all be displayed.
I have tried upgrading to R300 to see if R81 was not compatible with Windows 10 but this has made no difference.

Has any body else seen this phenomenon? If so have they a solution?

Having read some of the debug posts I have looked at advanced/misc features where the debug restart was ticked. I unticked that and restarted WD which has since been running for about 90 minutes with no problems.
By the way the weather station is an Oregon Scientific WMR88 with USB connection.

Hi
ah, yes, that station type does not use com port…which is really what that setting was aimed at
