I think a email database might have been hacked?

I got an email too - but with a different link (that I wont be clicking on)

howdy neighbour

There is info on the Astrogenic forum concerning this incident.

Edited to make the link unclickable, just in case…

I got 2 of these. Posted info in the Astrogenic forum regarding it.

Since that’s a locked down forum maybe you could share the explanation (if any)?

I logged in…seems an email data base was hacked…

Oh dear, that’ll be hard to recover from, likely whatever domain the emails were “apparently” sent from will get blacklisted.

Or not, niko. Many folks, including me, have gotten multiple messages with different To: lists (wide open), and the header showing different sending IPs.

Unusual to have an open To: list :?

Most of these idiots are Class AAA D-U-M-B! They just jam all the addresses in To: instead of using a list name or at least BCC:. So now everybody gets a free look at our address which could easily be added to yet more spam lists (some of the addresses I recognize, many I don’t, so who knows who some of these guys are?).

Meanwhile some other poorly informed website owners are paying for “seo” and promotion services not realizing what they are getting
