WD hanging randomly.(nothing to do with cp freezing)*Resolved!*

I too am getting the similar errors . I have running only the WD program and the camera capture. Here is my error log since updating to the last version:

Disabling the upload didn’t do it. It stuck again. I was watching the video creation though, and though it stopped before 10 after(closed at 12:08), it did have this in its log "FrameInput [Canvas] read frame #813
FrameInput [Canvas] read frame #814
FrameInput [Canvas] read frame #815

FrameInput read close

The program closed after that, and WD was fine till 12:10 then it freezes like clockwork.
Program error log had a few more access violations:
“ERROR: Access violation at address 004D8574 in module ‘WeatherDisplay.exe’. Read of address 00000010 System.SysUtils System.SysUtils at time/date 10:39 am 07/23/15

Whenever it happens, it kicks the cpu usage up to 99%, and it stays there till it’s done. The highest user for cpu at that time was wdwebcamcapture.exe, but when I forced it to close, it still remained high for a couple more minutes. I do notice a DOS command screen pop up right before it freezes, but it pops up and closes so fast, I can’t catch what it is. I have to wait another hour so I can pay close attention.

Here’s data about the hang from the problem reports and solution section in control panel:

Brian wrote this on another post. So far, so good.

do you happen to have set to update the customclientraw.txt in the webfiles/web page setup, real time ftp setup? if so, does unticking to create that , stop the errors ? (I think I might have found that is where the problem is)

No, that didn’t work.
Though, disabling special custom file conversion solved it freezing for 14 seconds every minute. I have to wait till 10 past the hour to see if that helps the main problem.

To All,

In post: http://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/59922
Brian had me uncheck this morning at 8am the Create a Custom clientraw file. So far at 5pm the Control Panel hasn’t locked up.

To get there select Web Files/Web Page Real Time FTP/WDL. Then select Real time Client FTP/AJAX Weather Display Live Setup. Should be on the bottom right.

I’ve noticed that WD once in a while says it is not responding.

Thank you, Curtis, I saw that last night and tried it, but it’s still doing the same for me. Have those errors today in the error log. Control panel freezes within the first couple hours and it freezes for long periods of time at 10 past every hour, which causes a memory leak. WD was just at 320mb when I just restarted it to unfreeze the control panel buttons again.
Thanks again.

Weather Display, please help.

there is another thread about these similar problems (control panel icons)
that I have been working on trying to find out what the problem is and where in the code that some people are affected by
its not easy to track down and I am working on it

there is no need to send me a private message

as I do not have any more information other than I am working on it and make sure to use the latest version
(or use build 81)

I too have the problem, I figure that I can exit the program and restart. Go directly to the control panel and do what I need to. I have no clue what has changed or what is different. I haven’t used version 81 yet to see if that version works without flaw.

So far everything is working for me with the minor control problem situation.

Build 290 still freezes at 10 past the hour. Build 81 is the only stable version I can run.
The main issue I’ve always had when I started this thread was the freezing at 10 past. The control panel and all that was apparently just a different problem, that I assume was sorted out, but I’ll keep an eye on it to see if it happens here again.
Build 81 has never frozen at 10 past the hour, so it must be something introduced in later versions that affects my computer for some reason.
And as always, every freezing incident gets longer and longer, and memory usage gets more and more every time it freezes. Restarting the program brings the usage back to normal until it starts the freezing again(which happens at every 10 minutes past every hour).
After a few hours, the control panel is not frozen. So I’m guessing this particular problem has nothing to do with the control panel and other areas that were fixed.
I’m going to go back to build 81 for now.

what do you have set to be updated (i.e web page updates) at 10 minutes past the hour ?

I have a few items that upload every 10 minutes, but nothing that I can find that only runs at 10 past the hour. I may be missing something somewhere. A command prompt window pops up right before it happens, but it disappears too fast for me to see what it is. It pops up with build 81 also, but 81 only freezes for maybe 5-10 seconds, where all the new ones freeze anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on how long before I restart WD.

maybe the tide program then?

Well, I disabled the tide program under the view tab, and the command window popped up. It only froze for about 20 seconds, but the memory usage shot up from 80mb to 115mb and stayed there, so I don’t think the tide program is the culprit. Would you happen to know if anything else automatically runs at 10 past? Or if there is a log that shows what’s running at particular times?
Thank you for your help.

Edit Interesting to note that it froze for 35 seconds at 12:08am, and didn’t freeze at all at 12:10am. Memory usage is at 165 mb.

that 12:08 will be the av/ext update…thats only once a day

so its only otherwise at 10 minutes past the hour that this command window pops up briefly?
(and not at 20 minutes past, 30 minutes past, etc?)
that must be related

When I get home from work tonight, I will keep a very close eye to see if anything pops up. I wish it wouldn’t go away so fast so I could see what it is.
I’ll let you know tonight.

I updated to the latest V290. After 18 hours, so far, so good.

My setup is a little atypical, I guess. I’m running an Intel NUC which I built and installed WD on about a week ago. WD always ran fine when I had it on my PC. Both units are running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I had CoreTemp running on the NUC and uninstalled it just to see if it had a problem working with the NUC. In my case, they may have fixed it, said with fingers crossed.

I apologize for posting in the other thread. I did it accidentally. Sorry about that.
I think I’m just going to stick with build 81 until I can spend more time troubleshooting the bug.
If I find out anything I’ll post it. Thank you for trying to help.
