Meteotemplate - another milestone
« Reply #2250 on: May 17, 2017, 12:54:59 PM »
Hi guys,

unbelievable how quickly our “Meteotemplate community” grows. And I dare to say it now spread worldwide as I have just added a user from the 50th country today 🙂 Although it might not be so clear, I probably benefit from all this at least as you do because I meet people all over the world, learn new things during the development process, learn to communicate and provide support and last but not least, it feels great to be creating something others find useful and like.

Once again thanks all for your support

Blimey, Jáchym's got his signature cycling now.

That's not why I'm typing.

I'm using the page maker facility for the first time. It seems that my knowledge of the requirements is at the level of 'ignorance'. I have one page running properly, but it's just an image from the WD files. Now I'm trying to bring in the dailylogout.html file in an iframe. It works fine on my other site on a purely HTML page. I can't get it working in Meteotemplate though.

The page very kindly rearranges things to suit itself in the source code window at times, which I find odd, presumably it's trying to parse the code and correct it. The code is minimal and produces a satisfactory result on the creation page and also on the preview page. Saving it and then viewing the page via a browser results in a reproduction of the code with the iframe references removed.

As there are undoubtedly experts on here, and as I am going around in ever decreasing circles, would anyone care to throw a bit of advice in my direction? Please.

The code that it's mangling:
Code: [Select]
<p><iframe style="background-color: #d9d9d9; padding: none; border: none;" src="../../../dailylogout.html" width="1200" height="2270"></iframe></p>

Hi,

make sure you read the info on the Custom page main page:

Quote
Use normal HTML tags. For security reasons, Javascript is disabled and will not work if you include it in your code as well as iframes.

In vast majority of cases, iframes either breach some copyright (probably not in this case), totally ruin the design of the overall page and should really be avoided, so I disabled this as well as use of Javascript and PHP in the custom page code.

Ah, thanks, Jáchym. I had read the page (numerous times) but thought the iframe was an HTML tag and JS was not being used. One lives and learns.
I assume then that it's not possible to reproduce the intended file in MT?

Regards,
John

Basically, the way I look at it is this:

An iframe, in the best scenario, always looks bad (and as mentioned people tend to iframe everything and even copyrighted stuff).

To make it look good the person would have to edit the code and implement it directly in the page and in such case such person would have enough knowledge to create their own custom page without the page builder.
This really is to prevent people from iframing absolutely everything they can, Im not saying it is your case, but Ive seen this before and had requests like that.

Most likely yes, but you would have to send it to me and tell me what it does and where it gets its data ;)

No, Jáchym, thanks, but no. It's not important and probably wouldn't have been used anyway. I'm just in training for the use of the page maker - dabbling if you like - to see of what it and I are capable.

Cheers,
John

Hi guys,

in this new version there are some new features as well as improvements.

- other minor tweaks

New Plugin – Czech Republic – Climate

Hi guys,

this new plugin shows climate averages for the Czech Republic as a whole and all its regions. This includes both temperature and precipitation averages and for each there is also a comparison with a long-term average, possibility to sort the data in a table and of course a graph as well.

Block Update – Current Conditions – Big 5.0

I added option to show current condition icon loaded from DarkSky, the exact same thing as in the Current Conditions block which I also updated recently. Please note – unlike the other parameters, if you select “condition”, the icon will not be updated in realtime unless you refresh the page.

New Block – Current Conditions – Finland

this new block allows you to view current conditions from many cities around Finland, this includes temperature, humidity, pressure, dew point, wind speed, wind gust, wind direction, last hour precipitation, snow depth.
