Block Update - Dynamic Text 2.0

Hi guys,

I have completely redesigned this block and made it much more sophisticated.
In this block, you now have many possible conditions/triggers. You first select if you want to enable this trigger. If yes, you provide a condition and corresponding message.

This is how the block then works:

  • checks which conditions are enabled
  • checks which of the enabled conditions should be activated based on the condition specified
  • for the activated conditions it will show a message (there are also wild cards that would be replaced by particular values) you provide in the block settings and for some you can also specify icons

If there are no messages to display, the block will simply completely disappear from the homepage and only show when there is something to display.

Conditions include:

  • specific weather conditions based on station data (temperature -above, below, change, humidity, pressure changes, precipitation, rain rate, etc etc.)
  • station online/offline
  • minutes before/after sunrise/sunset
  • specific time of the day
  • specific day of the year
  • specific date

The demo in this case is not very useful, but you will see exactly how it works when you install it and are able to access the block settings.

Enjoy

You have to add it to the menu yourself. This is how the new menu works. Once you update the menu.php you go to the menu setup and add a link to it:

#plugin(jetStream)

to whichever tab you want

The problem was that it was often the case each person thought it should be in a different place, so this solved the problem… you can now specify this yourself

#-o of course

New Plugin - My Map

Hi guys,

I thought it would be nice to allow you to create your own map for various purposes.

This plugin allows you to easily define map parameters. First you choose the map type (terrain, road, satellite etc.), then map height, then you define unlimited number of points by GPS and you give them a title and description. Finally you select if you want to show your points on the map as markers, a connected path or both and you can even choose path color, width, opacity etc.

Finally, below the actual map will also be an interactive table, where clicking the point will take you to the actual position of that point and open the description of it.

Tip: the map allows you to select heading for it depending on which purpose you want to use it for. In the menu, if you use the default plugin syntax:

#plugin(myMap) - if you want to do this you need to update menu.php

it will be called just “map”. If you want to use your own title, you have to use the link to that plugin in the menu as if it was an external link, i.e. specify the URL of it (http://… plugins/myMap/index.php). See the wiki section about menu for this.

New Plugin - Hurricanes

Hi guys,

this new plugin is all about hurricanes. First you select a basin (Atlantic or Eastern Pacific), then you select a year (1995-present) and finally a list of hurricanes for that basin and year are loaded. After you select the one you are interested in, its path will be displayed on a map below, where you can also click the individual path points to show more info. In addition, there is a direct link to a PDF with detailed description of that particular hurricane.

For hurricanes between 1995 and 2010, only the PDF is available, maps are available for hurricanes after and including 2010.

No need to setup anything, just make sure you update your menu file so that a link can be added to your menu.
