Looking for testers for the new Mac version :)

Hi Brian, 10.37Mac B221 is uploading to CWOP http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?call=CW2674

BTrip

Hi Brian,

Build 221 is not displaying data in the main window although the Meteohub missed history data extraction window shows ongoing transfer.

Aloha,

Mark

Wunderground Almanac now working.

However, I do have the following problems.

  1. The Real Time FTP does not work properly. The Main Internet Switch is ON. The Real Time FTP switch is on. The Delay between uploading data (seconds is set to 3). The cronftp process does not start until a minute or so after WD starts. It then uploads clientraw.txt but only once per minute instead of every 3 seconds. I think, but do not know, that this has to do with the setting on Control Panel > Web Files/Web Page Setup > Real Time FTP > Set create Time to this as well Checkbox. If I click on this checkbox and click OK when I come back the checkbox is unchecked.

  2. I cannot change the Units. If I click Control Panel > Units Other Settings > Units/Wind Chill I cannot change Wind speed, Temerature, Rainfall or Barometer.

  3. I have a Davis VP 2 and it retrieves current data but does not download the logged data.

Hugh

@Hugh Whalen
the clientraw.txt is uploaded via the crontpreal
as before
there should be a realtimeftp log file (as before)
this is working here in testing

re the units…click then use the kayboard up/down arrow to select

re download data: that does work here in testing (as long as the time/date on the console is set correct)…does the data history window show up? (and then what shows under view, debug info)

there is a new update re the rain wise data logger setup

The problem with the update was “fixed” by using the arrow keys instead of clicking on the units. Thanks for that tip.

The problem with getting the data from the logger is still present. The data history window does appear but nothing is downloaded. Here is the data from the debug info

Another problem that I have seen is in setting up the Weather Station Type. It accepts the Davis VP default settings but if I select things like
I have Solar + UV
I have Soil Temperature
I have a VP2 with updated firmware (Feb 2006)

It works as long as I have WD running. If I shut down and restart then all the settings that I have selected above are no longer selected.

The cronftpreal is running. I can see it in Activity Monitor. It is connected to my website. I can see it in CPanel on my website. The clientraw.txt file is being created every 3 seconds. However it does not upload.

Hugh

Time period too short
try not having WD running for a longer period of time

re conftpreal
what shows in the realtimeftp log?

there is another new update re the issues with the Davis station extra settings
update
build 222 has croncloud added (for weathercloud data send)

The Davis Extra Settings are now working - that is they are being saved between sessions.

The program did upload the historical data from the Davis Data Logger but it was very slow compared to the Windows version of WD. Another thing I noticed is that the Windows version uploaded 1 minute and 5 minute data from the data logger while the Mac version loaded 5 minute and 10 minute data. I checked the Data Logger settings and data logging interval was set to 1 minute.

The FTP log shows “No errors”. If I click on “Show current list of files to upload” all I get is the → symbol.

The Program Event Log shows: 00/00/00 00:52:00’ is not a valid date and time. Could this be the problem? The clock on the main window shows the correct time. The time I started the program was about 8:52 ADT or 12:52 Z

Hmmm … I’m seeing something very odd. It appears that the data is being uploaded correctly but the time stamp on the clientraw.txt file is incorrect.

Why do I think this is the case? I can see the data changing on my website every 10 seconds, so it must be uploading the data. However the timestamp of the latest update is shown on the website and it will change only every 60 seconds. When I run the windows version the data is uploaded every 10 seconds and the timestamp changes every 10 seconds.

I am now shutting down the Mac program and reverting to the Windows program (which I run under Parallels) until a new version of the Mac program is available.

UPDATE: I shut down WD Mac version and the cronftpreal process is still running three minutes later.

Hugh

when I tested the davis extraction there was no missing data (as shown in the logfile)
there is debug info under view, debug info, about that

re the ftp log, I mean to actually open the file, ftplogfullreal.txt
and see what shows there

re the clientraw.txt file time info in the file
try checking the created time/date stamp of that file on the pc…and actually open that file on the pc to check the contents are changing etc

I checked the 62015lg.txt file. You are correct, it did download all the data not just the data every 5 minutes. So, it was just the display during the download which led me to believe there was a problem. So, I guess that was a false alarm. Thanks for pointing me to the place where I could see this.

I opened the ftplogfullreal.txt file. Part of the file listing shows:

uploaded /Users/MacMini/Documents/wdisplay/webfiles//clientraw.txt OK
uploaded /Users/MacMini/Documents/wdisplay/webfiles//clientrawextra.txt OK
1 3
2 3
3 3
4 3
uploaded /Users/MacMini/Documents/wdisplay/webfiles//clientraw.txt OK
1 3
2 3
3 3
4 3
uploaded /Users/MacMini/Documents/wdisplay/webfiles//clientraw.txt OK
1 3
2 3
3 3
4 3

I do not know how to interpret the 1 3, 2 3, 3 3, 4 3 but the rest looks OK.

I have started WD Mac again. It appears to be changing the clientraw.txt file correctly every 2.5 seconds. It appears to be uploading correctly every 10 seconds. All the data on the webpage appears to be updating every 10 seconds except the section just below the radar which says at this time:

Updated: 16-Jun-2015 @ 3:59:46 pm (30 sec ago)

Strange, but of very minor importance.

I just checked the 62015lg.txt file again. This time WD did not download the logged data. Here is the relevant portion of the file:

As you can see the data stopped at 8:33 this morning when I stopped WD.
I restarted it at 15:55. The data starts at 15:55 but did not download the data from the logger for the period 8:34 to 15:54 inclusive.

Whoa, I was examining the Control Panel > Debug info when WD crashed. Restarted WD. Did not appear to download archived data but that is not surprising since it was only a minute or so since it was last opened. Opened Debug and it crashed again. Started WD again. Opened Control Panel > Debug Info and managed to copy this info … it has not crashed yet …

PS many thanks for looking at this.

for some reason it did not sync up with getting the history data

All the data on the webpage appears to be updating every 10 seconds except the section just below the radar which says at this time:

so maybe a problem with the script on the web page in how its picking up the time stamp in the clientraw.txt file or similar?

Thanks Brian, the data extraction panel now opens ok.

I have been trying out build 220 and unfortunately I cannot get the cronftpreal to work - login fails each time I try.

On the upside the WU rapid fire is now working with this release, thanks again.

it is the same cronftpreal version that was with the older WD mac verison

Thats what I figured. Cronftp also stopped working after testing 220…even when I went back to build 24 so it must be something outside of WD

That looks like it. Why would it do it some times and not others?

I just started it again and this time it picked up the logger data. Oops. It picked up the data from the logger then crashed…

Started it again and it looks fine … It’s connected to the console and is uploading data without a problem.

Random errors are the hardest to deal with. Sigh.

Hugh

doing some more testing with the Davis VP data extraction

if you run WD from a terminal window it should some info about the crash

Hi Brian, I have checked my ISP and my web host and everything is working fine. I uploaded the clientraw file using Filezilla and had no issue doing so. It seems to be tied with my testing of build 220, strange that it would affect all previous builds I have on my pc. Any suggestions?

Thanks

re the davis VP history data: will get a fix up soon

I did just discover that the wdisplayftp.ini file is corrupted, I need to fix that. Using a previous wdisplayftp.ini file worked ok.
