SteelSeries Gauges Setup
« on: June 23, 2012, 11:59:55 AM »
Hi
I would like some help in setting up SteelSeries Gauges. I have been all arond the forum and searched the internet, read the instructions, and the readme, but still can't figure it out. I hope someone can lend a hand.

I have downloaded the zipped folder and unzipped all the files. I have uploaded these files into a folder on my website (http://www.chilthorneweather.co.uk) called "SteelSeriesGauges". I have downloaded "customclientraw.txt" and placed it in the "wedfiles" folder of Weatherdisplay, and checked the box to produce a "customclientraw.txt" in the same location as as "clientraw.txt. (that bit seems to be working fine).? I used the separate download for the "customclientraw.txt", not the one from the zipped folder with the other files. I'm a bit confused here as to what this file should be called, as there is   mention of "customclientrawlocal.txt" in places.

I have tried to edit the gauges.js file as instructed, but don't seem to be getting any joy. When trying to load the gauges-ssT.htm, the gauges appear, but the banners at the top continually display "Downloading..." and "60 seconds" The gauges display no information at all.
Can someone point me in the right direction as to how I should edit the gauges.js file, as i'm at a bit of a loss here.

All the unzipped files have been uploaded to a folder called "SteelSeriesGauges", and my "customclientraw.txt is uploaded to a folder called "wdl". I am running Weatherdisplay 10.37R Build 23

Also I have read in the readme that the tags in "gauges-ssT.htm" were written for Cumulus and that if you are using Weatherdisplay these tags need to be changed. Have I read this correctly?? Is there an html template with the correct tags I could use?? Where are the weatherdisplay tags?
How would I implement them?

A lot of questions I know. I'm sure it isn't really that difficult, but I do find the language of these things very difficult to get my head around.

Hoping you can help

Cheers Pete

Hi again
After a reread and a bit of tinkering I have got the data displayed on the dials. I had given the file placed in the webfiles folder the wrong name. now however another question. On mouse over the graph pops up, but no data is displayed. Is it possible to get the graphs working using weatherdisplay? I see there is a path to edit in the gauges.js What do i need to put into this path to get the graph to display?

Do I need to edit the gauges-ssT.htm to get the Location etc correct at the top of the page?

Thanks Pete.

Pete, I'll have to leave the graphs to a WD users, but there are threads on the forum about setting them up.

As for the gauges-ssT.htm, yes just edit the file and change the tags to the text you want.

By the way, you could also rename the file to gauges-ss.htm - the 'T' denotes a template, in Cumulus this would be processed and saved to the website as gauges-ss.htm without the T.

Could someone point me to the error in my ways as the graph portion of the steel gauges has stopped working, although the verbage is correct on the gauge rollover. Have changed something somewhere...TIA,

BRGDS,
