**URGENT** WD stopped, can't get to Load data from VP2 [RESOLVED]

I happened to check my weather station web page and noticed the last good time was approx 7:55am.  The mac never crashed. Network seemed up.

When I got home I checked the console log and didn't find much.  To be safe I restored the ini and logfiles to the 7:38 timemachine backup and tried to get the data from the VP2

However, it just sits there...  I checked all times - VP2, mac etc - they are all the same.

If I let WD time out or don't try to reload the data, it appears to communicate fine (i.e. it pulls current data).

Any thoughts???

Not saying this is your problem...but sometimes the datalogger gets, for lack of a better word, corrupted.  I used to have to reset mine about twice a year.  I'm talking the full reset...power down the console, remove batteries, remove datalogger for 20 minutes, then re-assemble.  For whatever reason WD can't find the timestamp in the logger and it just loops.  I've found the best thing is to forget about the lost data, reset the datalogger, and continue on from there...

Interesting.... I have NEVER reset the logger - EVER...

So there just be NO data in the logger to recover OR its corrupt somehow...

So I just checked the HI/LOW for today on the VP console.  The high was 92 @ 2:14pm and the LOW was 64 at 3:46pm

So perhaps something is in deed corrupt...

I can't explain this.......

I was going to reset the VP2 data logger.  But before I did, just for the HECK OF IT, I started WD back up

It started pulling ALL the data !!!!!!!!  I swear I did nothing different...

But you bring up an interesting point. Once I have the data, you would recommend pulling the power and batteries and reset it.

I dont think it was a problem with needing to reset the data logger
(for Dans case that sounds more like maybe the time on the console was out by too much compared to the pc)

the restart of WD and it working could have been from the fact the com port was then available when it was not before

Thanks... Trust me I did everything as I'm supposed to. I made sure all the times - vp, wd and mac were the same.   I did this at least a dozen times.  ODD in the 7 years I have had
this, never a problem like this.  Coincidence or not, but the other day I had a "flat line" situation.  Restored the ini and logfiles, restart WD and the data came back.

Then miraculously, after dan's email I gave it one more time and it WORKED...

Moral of the story. If you have weird problems, email Dan. His response alone will make things work (that was a compliment dan - LOL) -- I do appreciate you getting back to me

I do support Dan's procedure. For whatever reason the data logger gets screwed up and the easiest way is to follow his procedure. It doesn't happen often, but two or three times in the past years. It happened (for me) on both versions (Win and Mac)

I had a similar issue last year. Davis support had me delete the corrupt line from the logs and that in itself was enough to get the logger working again.

If you start weatherlink and click on the notepad icon on the top menu it will display the latest data, select the line of data that is in error and press the delete key on your keyboard. WL will ask for confirmation say yes then restart weatherlink and download the data once that was done I connected WD and everything started working as it should.

One other thing to check is your baud rate for the logger I had 14400 selected but support advised that I set 19200.

I use WD but i have too Weather Snoop.

Form start to get data from davis, i need open and close WD or/and reset macmini very times, but if i open WeatherSnoop allways get data without problem

Thanks..  Ive had my VP2 and WD for years now and never had this much problems getting the data back..   Been fine sin...
