Weather Display > WD Questions
Weather station and WD do not reporting the same rainfall value (solved)
Koegeweather:
I don't understand this and I'm apoligizing
My weatherstation (WS-2080) report 1.8 mm and WD report 3.9mm. I have seen this behavior over a period now, but I can't figure out where the fault is. WD reset data at midnight. Clock on both weatherstation and WD is the same.
I suspect I have to change settings in Rainfall setup window (see attachment). Now my first question is: Shall I change the setting of the modified rain gauge? I assume the default is 1.0. My cup represent 0.3mm/tip, so it it correct to change this to something like 0.45 to get a correct reading.
Budgie:
In Control Panel > Station Type & Settings > ELV/La Crosse/Hyundai/Honywell > do you have a tick in the box marked "I am using a modified rain gauge (or it's a 0.3mm per tip gauge)"?
Koegeweather:
Thanks Budgie. I have been using Fine Offset as I used Easyweather prior to WD, but I have now switched to ELV/La Crosse/Hyundai/Honywell. Seem as communication works fine. I'll follow the development next time it rains and report back to the forum.

I too am having this problem. I have the Acu-rite 01025 model. My WD screen reports Rainfall:
Last hour 0.00"
Today 0.67"
Yesterday 0.00"
Month to date 0.73"
Year to Date 0.65"
My console reports total rainfall (since startup) as 3.33" with 2.23" this month.

Hi Mark
Funny that you replied just today. Over time I have had a few options to test different solutions and I finally found the correct setting of the modified rain gauge in the Rainfall setup window. By monitoring the rainfall value on the weather stations display (remember that this value is normally the total rainfall value for the last 24 hr - you need a "24 hr window without rain" to get a reference value) and comparing this to the value in WD, I finally found the correct setting of the Rainfall setup window. The value of the modified rain gauge is in my case and with my weather station 0.1 0.01.
I'm using fine offset again and not ELV/La Crosse/Hyundai/Honywell as suggested by Budgie - there seem to be no difference in performance, but I went for the setting I know is working.
