yet another web cam question

(1/1)

aardvark:
my D-link DCS-930L  IP camera saves the image as a jpg.  Am I S.O.L.  if I want to use the animated web cam that is used for the gif files,  or if I change the WD settings, can WD use the jpg to form a gif file that can be animated?

I went with D-Link mostly because of the wireless and also the price.  but just curious.  I am on summer break (up at the regular unGodly hour )  and thinking of projects that I want to do , like revamping my web page again.. it is getting boring

I am another newbie confused by the web cam setup where some functions use jpgs and others use gif. But I believe your not SOL. Read on.

Your camera produces jpgs as do most. In order to use WDs animated gifs you must use the WD web cam timestamp whereby it takes in your jpg and produces both a timestamped gif and jpg from your jpg. Don't confuse timestamping with on-image time stamping which is accomplished by your 3rd party sw or WDs Overlay. This timestamping embeds the time in the file name so that the animator can put them into sequence.

Weather Display:
an animated gif needs to use a gif image as the source
if using the wdwebcamcapture program to get the image ie using the IP camera function
the in the file save, you can set to also create a gif image
