the new cross platform compiler I have is going to have added to it more platforms in the future (currently it can compile on OSX and IOS, Linux and ARM are to be added later this year, from what I understand)

I don't remember the details and don't have time to look them up just now, but the Pi CPU isn't the latest ARM version, so it might be that the WD ARM code is for the newer CPUs (as used in many mobile phones).

Raspberry pi uses ARM11, to be exact: ARM1176JZF-S http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM11

I too am expecting imminent delivery of a Raspi, and I thought it could be a wonderful marriage between it and my DI VP2.
Certainly I would welcome any development in this direction.

Hi guys,

Have a full  test wdisplay now (thanx Brian) in Linux 10.0xx

Copied after installation the  Log files, datafiles, and webfiles, set
stationless for now, copied wdisplay.ini as well as a test and wdisplay looks like colors as it did in windows

What files can I copy as well to avoid setup all settings again ?
Should be a 'hell of a' job taking much time making screenshots of the current settings
print those ans set up again........

or am I to lazy ?

ps: only GoWeather.sh is working wdisplay.(exe?) will not start (not yet set comport) and the wdisplay.ini file is locked
because the owner is 'nobody' and I have no rights  :?. So wdisplay will not close and save, however settings looks like saved starting up the next time (logged in as admin and made an account for me with read wright and all permissions for the moment)

Ah found this
http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/topic,51837.msg416681.html#msg416681

with this
Quote
the only difference is that the contents of the wdisplayftp.reg file need to be converted to a ini file format
(i.e each settings header)
and named
wdisplayftp.ini

also make sure wdisplay.ini is named WDISPLAY.INI (since Linux is case sensitive for file names)

How to convert reg to ini ? (yes have a  WDISPLAY.INI in Linux)

as it says
you just convert to normal .ini file format
to do that, just change the headers (i.e more the registry info parts in the headers, just leaving the entry name)

Thnx Brian for reply,

Edited wdisplayftp.ini  to all sections
WDISPLAY.INI edit for most common settings

Now I have the old  main page with most values (not actual comport is still connected to the Win station)
and graphs.

So it's gonna be better.

Main internet switch is still off, have stationless

Some questions
Internet and file creation still no settings, have I do it manually for all
only GoWeather.sh is running need to click "run" for it each time; WeatherD does not start WDisplay
After save and exit in the programerror.txt have a access violation, is this because no webcam, datalogger etc ?

Still trying !

yes you need to use the Goweather.sh
(as that sets the location of the library paths)
you would need to have the main internet switch on for the customise internet and file creation to work auto

you really should be having all this in a separate thread, seems a bit off to have this in a thread that was trying to provoke a reaction about how supported is the linux version

EDIT:
found it by guessing, called consolewdarm.tar.gz, will try ASAP

EDIT2:
consolewd is now an arm executable, but won´t start on Pi, saying no such file or directory,
tried both direct from command line and GoWdconsole.sh, have Debian on PI (Raspbian)

Getting it working on Pi would be much appreciated as Pi seems a very good platform to run
weather stations among other things.

This:

http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/consolewd.tar.gz

Checked executables with file and it said: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386 ...
