overlay not saving
« on: October 28, 2009, 05:09:23 PM »
Hi

Just updated the webcamcapture software to 9.3 and im struggling to get the overlay to save.

The settings are saved but its not showing the saved settings in the image, after starting webcamcapture i have to then open the "Set the text colour/font" then click ok and then the settings are reflected in the image.

I am only using the standard setup #0 and no custom tags

For setup #0 if you untick the enabled box then click save it automatically puts the tick back in the enabled box

Does anyone have any ideas please?

I've been having similar problems with both the old and new versions.  I use an overlay in setup #1 and #0 and I agree that v9.3 seems to be having more problems savings the settings than the last version.  I don't restart mine very often, as a rule, so when I start it up I manually make the necessary changes and then leave it until the next time I need to restart.  Just wanted to let you know you're not alone...

Hi Dan, i have gone back to 8.5 as the only part that dont save in this version is the Auto refresh preview but i can live with that :)

so the problem is the font/colour is not being rememberd on restart?
I thought I had fixed that in the latest version

alot of the problems is the quirky way the component handles each text layer
(and each time I upgrade the component I use it breaks more things that were working OK)
(if I did it via my own code it would be much easier (but then you would not have shadow fonts, etc)

if you could .zip and email me your settings I will test here Tiggy

On the WD download page, look for the older version, should be 37O build 02.  That contains the older wdwebcamcapture version 8.5.

Was a resolution ever found for this issue? I just upgraded to a more up to date version of WD
(was running 37O build 2, now running 37P build 17) and am having the same issues mentioned
above. Font/color settings of overlay not being remembered. I still have version 8.5 and will revert
to that if this problem with 9.3 is still unresolved.

Thanks.

It looks though the x axis has got compressed in comparison to the y vertical axis.....is your webcam capture aspect ratio correct?

V8.7 using now, works oke (see att.)

But overlay still not running, it persists now for about half a year and I suppose it's a wd - my machine issue (however changing back to the last well running version 7.3 all tags are displayed oke  :? ) date and time ticked only working.........

I have not heard anything new on this problem, and I don't know if Tiggy ever sent Brian his settings.

Still running 8.5 here and my problem with overlays is still present but different from the OP.  My problem is overlay #1 "remembers" earlier settings.  I use it to show my present location.  When I first bring up WD the overlay will show all my previous locations on the image.  I just go to the overlay tab, select #1, and when the correct text is showing on the preview I hit save, then go back to setting #0.  The first update of the preview will revert back to showing all the extra text, but the second update it will show normal.  I then hit save settings and minimize the window.

I also had the problem with overlay #1 remembering all previous values put in the box and
have not found any way to get rid of the old strings.  #-o I went to the newer version of
webcamcapture hoping to get rid of that problem, but discovered the "new" problem of not
remembering font/color settings... :( I guess it's messed up either way and I'm not sure which
version to stick with.  :dontknow:

Any ideas on this?

I´m running the lastest WD installation and after restart wdwebcamcapture "forgets" size & background colour

When I open Set text/colour font:

* the colour is the one I had saved, but its showing the default turquoise

* size has been  reset to default size

* position is the one I had set/saved
