Hi I have come across a way to show WDL within WD i.e to have a WDL as a screen in WD itself auto updating, from a clientraw.txt file (needs to be where the wdlv6_08.swf file is, e.g have that in the webfiles folder and a wdlconfig.xml file (i.e you can configure it too!), in that same folder good idea? |

I'm not yet a WDL user, but I believe many would find that to be a highly desirable feature. Another tab at the top of WD and the option for that to be the default opening screen? I'll bet Julian would like it too. - Jim |

Sounds like a good idea, it would also be handy using it in the client mode as well if you just want to display the data and not alter the WD settings. |

Personally I dont see the point of adding it when you already have WD's main screen providing all the live feed of data. WDL is useful on the web but I wouldn't see a use for it in WD the program itself. Also your adding heaps of complexity when you add it in, as the person would have to make the config file for WDL by opening the WDL configuration window, save it in the WD program directory get WD to look at the file and then finally show it. For a brand new users perspective it would be quite complex. Flash also is a CPU hog, I am personally not keen on using flash for desktop application development, as it wasnt really made for that. YoWindow uses flash for its animation, but you can't have the animation going at the same time as you do some hefty workload on the computer that requires all the CPU as there will be a noticeable performance hit. Stick to what you have got Brian is my suggestion, WD is good enough in itself. |

Having WDL integrated into WD would be thumbs up :thumbright: for me. Typically during severe weather I watch the storms activity in WDL. But by doing that there is a time delay on the data. VP2 - Console - PC with WD - To Server in Texas - Back to PC running FF. The big time delay is the upload frequency to the web server (15 seconds) and any amount of time it takes the data to travel to Texas and back . As far as flash being a CPU hog, it shouldn't be an issue on a quad core i5. Having WDL integrated into WD will make WDL that much more "L". |
