New allday video setup - datestamped filename
« on: January 08, 2012, 04:06:16 PM »
Hi Brian

Thank you very much for all your great work improving the WD videosetup.

I have been using the new allday video setup since yesterday.

Its working great - but I have a suggestion:

I see the datestamped alldayvideofile is saved as:

alldaymoviedmyyyy.wmv (for example yesterday video is saved as alldaymovie712012.wmv)

Would it be possible to have WD save the files as in the old setup?

ie. yyyymmdddayvideo.wmv (for example 20120107dayvideo.wmv)

Or make it userdefined?

I currently have to rename the datestamped file on my ftpserver to have my videocalendar working, and I would be sorry if I should rename all my datestamped alldayvideos back to 1. September 2006.......

Best regards,

Henrik

Ps. I see my datestamped allday video from yesterday has not been uploaded to my ftp-server - I have ticked "Upload date stamped all day video"

I am already intending to add an option for which way to have that
re the upload of it, make sure to be using the  latest .zip update

Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply.

Sounds good that you are looking into this. Im already using latest WD:

Main Weather Display install file  v 10.37R Build 05
for Windows 2000 / ME / XP/VISTA/W7 & NT
Version on 7 January 2012 - 01:51:40

Do you have a later .zip ready? Im not able to find it in the download section.

Best regards,

Henrik

looks like people are expecting it to be the other way around
so I have done that now
in this update

http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/wdisplay32.exe

I also added option to use 2 or 1 hour for sunset delay
and added to set the minute past the hour that the yesterday movie is uploaded (after 10 pm)

Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply.

Im not sure what you mean "other way around" ?

I have updated the new version "setupacurite.exe" - does that mean the datestamped file now will have same filename as before?

ie. yyyymmdddayvideo.wmv (for example 20121101dayvideo.wmv)

If not - does anyone have an idea how to change the filenames of my current datestamped allday video files? (I have 1,593 in total  :D)

Best regards,

Henrik

Hi Brian

Just checked the datestamped alldayvideo from yesterday and it has this filename:

1112012alldaymovie.wmv

It looks like the day and months are "one-number" - I would be really happy if you could change the format to the way it used to be:

yyyymmdddayvideo.wmv - for example 20120111dayvideo.wmv

In that way the date will always be correct - with the new format you can have more combinations - for example yesteday filename could mean:

11. January 2012
1. November 2012

I would also be happy if you could change alldaymovie to dayvideo - otherwise all WD users that have saved their datestamped videos will have to change the names (If they use the videos on their websites)

I use all my datestamped videos on my website, where the visitor can choose the videoes from a calendar:
www.silkeborg-vejret.dk/english/video.php

Hope you will reconsider the above.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Best regards,

Henrik

Ps. The datestamped video from yesterday didnt get uploaded to my website.  I have ticked "Upload date stamped all day video" set to 17 minutes past the hour

Hi Windy
Thanks, the leading zero will be great.
Have you considered changing the date stamped name back to "dayvideo" ?

Later today I will update to latest version from the special link

Henrik

Hi Brian

Thank you very much. I have installed lastest full WD version from normal download.

Todays datestamped video is created (11:15pm here) - so I will wait for tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Henrik

I see the name is alldaymovie - did you plan to change that from "alldaymovie" to "dayvideo" ?

If not - anyone know if its possible to change all my current datestamped files on my webserver?

Have some great summerdays at school holiday with your family.

Hi Brian

I have found a program called "Bulk Rename Utility" which can change part of the filenames. Before I start changing my 3,800+ filenames I would like to hear if you plan to keep the current "alldaymovie" name for datestamped allday videos or change back to the "dayvideo" name?

I guess other WD users with videocalendars etc. will have to rename their files too.

Best regards,

Henrik

Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply. I hope you enjoy the summer.

Before you changed the WD videosetup the remote filename was yyyymmdddayvideo.wmv for example:

20120122dayvideo.wmv

Now the remote filename is called alldaymovie

Best regards,

Henrik
