No year switch
« on: January 01, 2012, 09:33:15 AM »
- WD version: 10.37Q build 28
- Weather station type: Davis VP2
- PC Dell Vostro with Win 7 on 2GB ram

WD was running until 20:00 hrs on 31 December when I shut down my computer. I restarted January 1 at roughly 9:30 hrs but something went wrong and it did not download the data from closing time onwards as it always does and should do. In first instance it did not load real-time data either but after restarting the computer that works. It appears that WD does not make the closing of the year correctly. Year totals and December totals are displayed for January.

I tried to reset the download time back and re-download the data to redo the year-crossing but it does not work.

1) will this be an error which propagates or will the data be reset sometime midnight next?
2) is there a way to get the correct year-crossing and have all averages and month and year data correct?

A happy new year anyway :)

I hae a similar problem. Today (1st January) it didn't zero December's rain total or 2011 rain total. But it has just added the January rain today onto the December 2011 total.
I had no data problems when downloading the data.
I am using the latest SW verasion 10.37R b03

I recommend to have WD running during the night for the important year reset

Thanks Brian,
I wish I knew that sooner. So how do you recommend I correct the problem?

Thanks Brian. Too late however.
Any idea how to correct?
And maybe it is an idea to have a feature to redo the year reset even if something goes wrong?

I have found that keeping it running so that the change over happens is the best way. However, you need to do damage control.

VP2, Daytime Fars, Solar/UV; Soil station; extra temp/humid station; extra temp stations; Windows 7, 8G Ram , 1TB drive/external and a D-Link DCS930L IP Webcam.

Hello,

Some sort of same problem here. I was in the hospital from dec 29 and cam home om jan 1. My PC had stopped (have still to find out why) sometime on dec 30.
When I look at the rain totals it says 10 mm today, 111.9 this month and 611.7 YTD ??????

In the raintotals I can see last week ending on Sunday jan 1, day before that is Saterday dec 24???

Isn;t there any way to correct this?

Happy New year !

Similar problem here. Using WD 10.37R Build 03, Windows Vista, Firefox 8.0 and Vantage Pro 2.

No archive data downloaded between Dec 31 and 2 January.

Would appreciate a solution.

Thanks!

So it begins to appear to be a generic problem!

More in hope than expectation, I have just downloaded the latest version 10.37R Build 05. But it hasn't cured the year-end data problem.

I set the clock back to 5 min before end off year midnight, waited to tick over and some of my problems are resolved now.

Keep in mind to detach the weather station.

OK
1) the clock of the computer and nothing in WD?
2) which problems are resolved and which are not?

And btw, resetting the clock does not work in my case : still a yearly rainfall of 575 mm for 2012 which should be for 2011 and 0 for 2012

@Brian : was the above your last comment? Does this mean I am on my own here or is it still under consideration.

HansR.

I changed the system clock back to 31/12/2011 23:55
Disconnected my Vantage Pro
Restarted WD
Waited till 01/01/2012 00:15

And it appeared that it solved my NOAA and data issues. Only problem is that I have two 01/01/2012 days in my NOAA report, but I can live with that.

http://www.dayboroweather.com/dailynoaareport.htm shows the normal stuff. But within WD it shows 2 first of jan's

I'm still not sure if changing the system clock is the recommended solution or is a bug fix and data recovery utility being developed.
