the problem will be another WeatherD file
that its linking to
e.g the full install version
try unzipping the update to where the full install version is installed to

Windy,

This is not a big deal, more of a challenge for me but it is still not working. I deleted all the WD files, downloaded a new full version then updated with the zip by dragging it into the application file and I still get the old version. I'm sure it is something I'm doing wrong and I'll eventually figure it out. Figuring out how a Mac works is a bit of a learning curve but my daughters assure me I'll get it!

I think this might be where the problem is

what/how are you doing that exactly?

The file downloads as WeatherD in the download section. I then drag that to the Application folder and it asks if I want to replace it with the new file which I do. When I click on it after that I still get the 2002 file.

its strange in that there was no Mac version from a build that old
although one of the earlier verions of WD read the version number from a version.txt file

anyway, instead of dragging the file, have you tried double clicking on the WeatherD.zip file you downloaded, to extract that file, there , in the download folder
then double click that file there?

Yes, I think I have tried every way possible. So far I have tried dragging to the application folder and replacing the file, opening from the download file, stopping safari from automatically opening the file and dragging the raw zip file to the applications folder, dragging the file to the desktop, and starting from scratch then downloading the update zip. So far nothing works.

Could it be a "lion" thing? I can run a pc with my eyes closed but the Mac is like re-learning, so some of what I'm doing is new to me and I apologize. WD is running very well in VB on this machine but eventually I'd like to at least try WD for Mac. Thanks for the help so far!

I wonder if somehow its to do with runing windows emulation
and somehow its like running an old windows version converted

its very strange thats all I can say

that some people can get it loaded OK
but others can not

I might see if I can get the full install version updated to the latest .zip update version

I have been trying the same options with the same result as BfdWx.
Very true, it may have to do with the fact we are both completely new to the Mac.

BfdWx, you mention WD runs fine in "VB" , what is that? Parallels? Bootcamp?

VB is Virtual Box, similar to Parallels. WD runs on it with no issues at all.

SAME issue here...been wracking my head over it.

I've been running WD in emulation (Parallels) but just began to experience too many oddities.   After an initial problem with the OSX version I opted for Windows, but now wanted to return..and I have the same issue - I'm stuck with this "Old" version and can't upgrade.   Have tried multiple times, no success.

Anything?   After updating Parallels on my PowerMac I'm  having all sorts of issues with WD now..which I attribute more to Parallels than anything else based on the fact that it was fine before the update, and now is doing all sorts of bizzarre things after the fact.

The only thing I can think of that is causing this odd issues with the current version is that I installed the previous version ("Weather Display For Intel MAC OSX10.4 and above Full Install v 10.37L Build 60") before hand by accident.   It was distributed in a .DMG and had a "Resources" installer.

What I'm thinking is that there is a trail of leftovers from the previous install (perhaps the resources that were installed, in addition?) that is screwing up the new install?

I NEED to get the Mac version working otherwise WD is going to be useless to me soon since the Windows version is no longer even working properly for me in emulation.

(Also...perhaps a staff member could edit the title of this thread to something a little more descriptive so that others that are having the same issue might find this thread and comment as well?   The current title is NOT descriptive towards the content of the thread...)
