Interesting Discovery - at least for me anyway.

I learned something new about this script today I thought I would share. To begin with, everyone but me may already know this. But, for me, it was an issue that had me stumped and I 'accidentally' discovered the answer.

The issue had to do with the number of days being displayed in the Overview graph. I typically show 8 days in my forecast. Over the last couple of months, I'd notice the number of days being displayed suddenly changing to 4, other times maybe 5. But eventually it would get back to 8. And for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Well, I found the answer. This week I was running some Forecast-to-Actual comparisons with WRET. In doing this I set WRET to 4 days. After running WRET, I noticed my Overview graph was now showing only 4 days. In trying to remember if I had changed anything, I recalled running WRET and changing the number of days in it. So, I went back to WRET, changed the 4 days back to 8, and voila, the Overview graph with the next forecast was back to 8 days as I had wanted.

As I mentioned earlier, most folks may already have known this. But I couldn't find an answer to the issue anywhere. So, I thought I'd share my experience here in case there are others like me who were 'stumped' on this one.

The 3in1 graph and details are now displaying normally on your site, ardsar.  Did you find the problem?

It displays ok, but the error log is still growing in size!

OK, I'm not up to speed here.  What error logs, and where are they located?

This log comes from the /wxsim_wxall directory from your webserver?  (I have no such log in my webserver's /wxsim_wxall directory.)

Yes this file is created by the server. I guess you don't have this file as your setup is correct.

I wouldn't exactly say that my setup is correct.  I have removed the W3C validation links from my 3in1 page because I receive a blizzard of errors and warnings when I try to validate it (over 7000 in all).  I also don't find any mention of an error log or a switch to turn an error log on and off in the wxsim_wxall scripts.  Perhaps the logging is optionally (or not) generated by your server's configuration?

The logging is caused by a php script error which i need to find otherwise i will have to scrap using this as the log file will continue to grow. There is no way to turn this off.

The 3in1 scripts are like a black box to me.  I can't follow them as they arcanely do their thing, I can't successfully modify them, just alter the input until I obtain the desired results.  Any time I've tried to modify them I've just made things worse.

Who is creating the log?  You or your web host?

Its such a shame that no one supports this script.

If anyone is interested there is a typo on line 1336 of lastret.php

The only error i can not resolve is due to max() function

[03-Aug-2012 06:45:43 UTC] PHP Warning: max() [function.max]: When only one parameter is given, it must be an array in /public_html/weather/wxsim_wxall/wxall.lastret.php on line 210 [03-Aug-2012 06:45:43 UTC] PHP Warning: max() [function.max]:
