First of all I liked your icon set, thanks for the great work. I would like to ask if it is possible for you to change the background color to transparent? That would make your icon set perfect for use.

Yes, is not a problem but i dont' understand what had you said about the text....

I think Geert was requesting that the font used for the wind directions be a sans-serif font like Arial/Helvetica and not a serif font like Times New Roman.

Something like Arial/Helvetica Bold Condensed for a font would be nice and legible.

The text could be a little bit smaller like the sample.
And a picture format  (100x100x32b) would be fine.

Great icons, it's just a shame they're not animated when using them with WDL. Would it be hard to convert them to SWF format?
