They added my IP to their white list and it's working again.  It looks like there were to many FTP attempts that caused my IP to be blocked.  Unfortunately they don't have a way to monitor the invalid attempts so I'm looking for a way to notify me when I'm getting FTP errors.

Thanks all!

Adam

It isn't really a cPanel issue as much as a problem with your hosting provider and the way they have their server configured.

It actually IS a cPanel-problem. I switched the dedicated server i and some other wx-sites use to cPanel some weeks ago and with default settings in cPanel, it and wx-softwares sucks together, expecially if use many softwares like i (and the other sites on same server) do.
Main issue are that cPanel's default value of allowed connections from same IP are by FAR too low for multiple wx-softwares + some other connections from same ip. I had almost to double it if i remember correct before things calmed down.
It is also damn easy to block out users if use CSF firewall with cPanel on the server.
So the settings needs tweaking / whitelisting of wx-server if want to be sure.

Else than that cPanel are great :)

Definitely have to agree with that. Switched to a cPanel account 2 weeks ago, on the same host I've been with for years, and it's been nothing but big problems ever since - mainly scripts and WP plug-ins that worked fine on the old server refusing to work on the new. I, too, like the cP features, but the control they put on the servers is far too tight. Host support, which has always been good, started off excellent with these problems, but has slacked off a bit. Now looking for a new host. Suggestions appreciated (prefer SW US area).

Just FYI....  This isn't a cPanel issue in and of itself.  It is likely a result of a add-on firewall installed by Blue Host.  My own company (www.denverwebhost.com) runs cPanel servers and there has not been a problem with numerous WD fed websites.

Tony,

As just mentioned, am looking for a new host who can get me back to 100%. Offering any deals for this group?

Probably best to take this offline - webmaster@tiggrweather.net.

Thanks.

The only cPanel site that I have is a Reseller account, but I don't have any clients with access to it.  I do have a couple weather sites on it, but none of them do a lot of transfers.

I prefer an unmanaged server that I control instead.

All you need is Time, Aptitude and Desire ... and you can build just about anything...

Can't agree more. For ease of web management install Webmin/Virtualmin which have a very light touch on the operating system...although a lot gets done using putty/vi ;-)

+1 here too.
With one difference to Chris, Putty/Nano in use here

cPanel are here in use only for that its easier to setup domains and stuffs for the websites as there are ca 10 wx-stations on the server as now but as much as possible of other server-managment are done with SSH. If i was alone on the server there should be no cPanel at all :)
