Norton is bad news, it will screw up WD, that has been proven many times.

Shouldn't be running two antivirus programs.

You should be able to keep Norton 360 from scanning the WD folders (including those within the main wd folder) by starting norton 360, then clicking on "settings", then "antivirus protection". Then, on the "scans and risks" tab under "exclusion/low risks", click on configure next to scan exclusions.  Then under scan exclusions click "add".  Next browse to the folder that WD is installed in, and with it highlighted check "include subfolders", then click OK.  Then under auto protect exclusions click "add", again browse and select the wd folder, and be sure to check "include subfolders".  Click OK, then under Apply click  OK and again under apply click on close.  Those are the instructions found on Norton's web site.  Personally, I agree with Niko.  Dump Norton.  I did several years ago and haven't looked back.  There are other better, cheaper choices out there.

I removed Norton 360 and 20 minutes later my computer was locked up.  I still have Webroot AntiVirus with Spyware running.  I also noticed that Windows Defender was running.  Should one of those be removed also?

I'd suggest you pick ONE of the three you've been using and disable the others.  Then, in the one you decide to use, make sure it is set to not scan the folders that WD, its log files, etc. are in.

But I just have the Webroot with Spyware running.  I have Windows Vista.  Doesn't that come with some built in free anti-virus software?  Which is better?  Am wondering if I should just remove Webroot Antivirus with Spyware?  Im lost!  Sorry.
