Snow melt threshold again
« on: February 12, 2010, 09:11:19 AM »
I know there have been several threads about this but it does not seem to work well for me.

I currently have lying snow and a rain bucket full of the stuff. I have set the snow melt threshold to 1 deg C and the current temp is 2.7 deg C. The rain bucket has tipped and the totals recorded but the current main screen icon is Stopped Raining. Now I expected it to not change the main screen icon at all, unfortunately I was not near the console when the tip happened so I dont know if a Rain icon showed, but I would have thought the Stopped Raining should not show either. Am I correct? It would seem that cientraw data is OK because my web page shows a cloudy icon (which is correct).

Stuart

Edit: Just had a tip and it shows Stopped Raining so it looks like just this as a problem, somewhere in one thread Brian said there was a snow melt icon to be used but I dont think I have one!

I've set my melt threshold to 3(C)...I'll have to watch it today and adjust it as needed to get it to where it should work well.

I've been checking on this all day and the main screen icon stays at Stopped Raining. It would be good if it either said 'Snow Melt' or perhaps the same icon as clientraw.txt shows as the current conditions. Not a big problem but would be good to tidy this up.

Well I know this won't work, nor is a cure for everyone , but I got up on my roof and cleared the bucket of snow and ice. But you are correct, an icon representing the snow melt would be ideal.

I'm quite happy that it records the snow melt as precipitation and at least for me the clientraw and therefore my website show the current conditions not raining. It would just be good to fix up the main screen icon as well. I'd be happy if it just showed the current conditions rather than Stopped Raining although a Snow Melt icon would be the 'icing on the cake' (maybe that should be snow on the cake  ).

Stuart, I have been talking about this problem for over a year..  it NEVER has been addressed for some reason. See http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/topic,36602.0.html ..

Broadstairs or ChrisinPA, have you heard anything on this?  It was annoying to see 'stopped raining' most of the day while the weather was mainly clear.

I found the problem, it was a code sequence problem
I will get a new .zip update uploaded once the WD server is up again

Thank you...  My only remaining issue is the icons not matching the descriptions (as called for in clientraw.txt) for mostly sunny/few clouds (partly cloudy is called), dusk, dawn and stopped raining (the partly cloudy icon is called for).
