CWOP/APRS Timing Offset

Could somebody please clarify how the timing offset is supposed to work?

I have pressed the 5 minute button and it shows the correct intervals as 5,10,15 etc.  I press the offset to read 2 minutes thinking that this would change the timings to 7,12,17.  It doesn't and it stays as 5,10,15 etc.  Pressing OK and coming back into the screen shows the offset back as 0 minutes with 5,10,15 timings.  Am I missing something?

I don't know for sure on this one, but on many of the other screens if you set the offset first and then hit the "5" you'll get the times you are expecting.

IIRC CWOP uses the last digit of your ID# as the minute to send your data.  Keeps the CWOP servers from getting overloaded with connection requests...

I tried the suggestion but still no joy in having 2 minute offset times showing in the list.  Perhaps Brian could clarify this when he has a moment.

The way CWOP works, which is by CWOP request is:

You select if you want 5 - 10 - 15 minute updates and then the send time is based on your last two digits of your station ID...

In my case mine is 03 so my uploads are 03 - 08 - 13 - 28 and so on...

Thanks for the link Bob regarding the timings Bob

All understood for CWOP callsigns.  My number is DW4319 but I have chosen to use my Ham Radio Call Sign of G4MHJ and this appears on Findu and Aprs.fi maps.  I therefore assume that the offset will not work anyway.  The DW code doesn't show on the input screen, just G4MHJ plus my 5 digit validation number sent from Russ Chadwick

I wonder if WD automatically uses "0" when a ham radio call sign is used versus a CWOP call...

Do you have I am not using a CWOP ID ticked in the control panel?
