Just received this from Gerald Creager through the "Discussion of weather data quality issues"  Mailing List.

Just got this notice from our Campus Network folks.

IMPACTS: first.aprs.net, cwop1.aprs.net, cwop4.aprs.net, ceop5.aprs.net, firenet.us, and, www2.findu.com will all potentially be unavailable during this outage.

I will make attempts to move services temporarily to other physical locations, but most of my contacts have already left for Christmas Break at the various universities I'd usually call.

My experience with the folks doing this work is that we're looking at no more than the expected 10 minute outage.

Subject: Network Maintenance -- Router software upgrade
Date: Tue, 22 Dec 2009 14:47:55 -0600

Maintenance start date:  Saturday,  January, 2, 2010
Maintenance start time: 6:00am
Estimated end time: 10:00am

Details of maintenance: Backbone router software will be upgraded
requiring a  reboot of multiple campus routers.

Impact to customers:  The campus network and Internet access will be
unavailable for at least 10 minutes during the maintenance window as the
routers reboot.  It is likely that most areas of campus will experience
this more than once as routers at the campus edge are rebooted and then
those closer to their physical location.
