WD and a brand new LaCrosse WS2810
« on: December 08, 2009, 05:22:54 PM »
Hi,
I've used WeatherDisplay with a LaCrosse WS2308 [which uses a serial connection] with great success. However, the Thermo Hygro sensor died on me and I recently purchased a Lacrosse WS2810 [which uses a USB connection] which is a completely wireless station.

My question is this: Since the old configuration no longer works, Is there a station type I can use in the setup applet that will allow me to use WeatherDisplay with this new Station?

Thanks,

Joe

if you can get heavy weather or WUHU software to work with the station and create a currdat.lst file, then set WD to use that (as the heavy weather import option)
try that

you might be able to find the currdat.lst under
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\currdat.Lst
or in a hidden folder (set to show hidden folders and files and do a search for it)
so that you can then select that file to use as a data source in WD (via heavy weather import setting in the weather station type setup, Lacrosse setup tab)

I am using a WS2810 as well and am using the currdat.lst file for data.  For the most part it works.   I am having difficulty getting data to all dials and graphs in Weather Display.  (all of the functions in Wd are not working).  I'll let you know if I find a remedy.

HI,

I'm totally new here but i intended to use WD as well, although WS2810 figures in the list of supported units, it doesn't seem to be possible to select it.
The alternative should be manually refer to currdat.lst
I ticked "use currdat.lst for data source" under "Heavy Weather Import", I selected the (hidden) location but I don't seem to get data.
What's wrong ?  ...after closing and restarting the program i got the data...

But, i cannot make the program make the automatic updates... after "update internet now" it's ok but i want the WD to do this automaticaly.
I "ordered" to to this every 5 minutes... but nothing happens.
So, what am I doing wrong ?

In the main window just below the date and time there is a "checkbox" "data received" and " "data quality". The last one is red. What does that mean ?

Luc

Hi
yeah, I need to make that currdat.lst box also refer to the 2810
I will do that

as for the internet updates, make sure the main internet switch is on in the connections setup and you have ticked there to use weather display Ftpupd.exe
if using the customise internet and file creation setup then make sure to set the times to create and times to upload for the files needed
I will fix the data quality not going green for that station type

since i unzipped the the new .zip, the FTP seems not to work anymore, i.e. i have the impression that the FTP-part is not logging in.
FTP-log :

So the FTP seems to know that it has to upload certain files but nothing is uploaded.
I never see a login, and i think it is essential to start with, no?

I filled in my username, pasword, FTP-server...
Action->manage FTP server allows me to upload files.
Last friday, saturday it worked automaticaly, my files were updated on my site but since i installed the zip it is not working anymore.
What's the next step ?

I restarted the whole setup, checked a lot of things and suddenly the upload worked again! Unfortuniately i don't know why.
But, my data is not correct.
The currdat.lst contains other data then the data on the main screen! How is that possible ? (apart from a possible difference in reading time)

I quitted WD and started it up again, now everything seems to work again...
Since WD was not reading the data for more then an hour, all that information is not visible in the graphs... (a straight line...)
Is there a kind of "restart" ?  The data is still available in a history-file from my wheaterstation... so can it be read again ?

Luc

I have a brand new LaCrosse WS2812 which seems to use the WS2810 Heavy Weather application. LaCrosse says "New Version of Heavy Weather coming soon". So I downloaded the WS2810 software which appears to match what is on the LCD display.

In Heavy Weather, I see changing barometer readings, however, they appear to not be updating in Weather Display.

I originally had an old LaCrosse WS for about 5 years with a serial input and was able to bypass Heavy Weather entirely. But a hail-storm took out the rain sensor. So I know that WD usually works well.

I'm using Heavy Weather import and it's using the currdat.lst file.

Any tips would be nice. I use WD to output to a small micro-site so I can monitor weather conditions remotely.

Thanks,
Lynore

For no reason at all, barometer readings now working. When things fix themselves, though, I get afraid they will break themselves, again, later.

In Heavy Weather Pro, under the Extras menu, select Show Current Weather Data File

This will show the location of the currdat.lst file.

I'm using WD with Lacrosse ws 2800 EU version, curradat.lst is ok ( version 1.5 EU) and WD gets alla data correctly but there is no gust data inside the file, only speed is supported so WD shows gust and speed identical...history.dat can be read by WD, using ws3600 settings, but there's an issue with rain..don't know if WD or HW is the problem...transmitted my history.dat file to Lacrosse..engineers working on it..if you see below
